Thanks Oddesy but after years of film shooting with a Pentax and then I got a Canon 40D and a 100-400 lens for the bush about 3 yrs ago...stupid really as my SO needs a spare body in his work and he is Nikon besotted  Anyway sadly that kit of mine got lifted last December and havent replaced it yet so in Aug in Kruger I was continually borrowing the D700 and 200-400 of my SO when he was using the binos or video. You cant believe the difference ...that lens is amazing and full frame is like my old Pentax film camera so all I did was lift that rig (its heavy!!!) onto the beanbag and shoot. I will probably just get another D700 with the 40D and lens money so we/he will have another body...makes sense in our situation to standardise on one brand although I do miss the familiar buttons on the 40D :)

Lions can be seen at any time of the day like this youngster enjoying the aroma of lunchtime braais 50 metres up the road from Mooiplaas picnic spot and about 150 metres from our tent at adjacent Tzendze camp last summer

Not quite head and shoulders, but a close-up.
