lmao Duques, I hear what ur saying, a few years ago my family and I were in the Kruger and just outside of Satara we spotted a Honey badger next to the road while minding our own business and taking in this rare sighting in broad daylight our thoughts were immediately forced to pay attention to a young Elephant Bull that came charging toward us Trumpeting and going ballistic, we got a frite, the honey badger got a fright and to this day I am PETRIFIED of the mere sighting of Elephants, I endure it because my kids and fam love them but me, well lets just say that the dashboard and I make aqaintence in that time period  , I love birds and I do look for the baby five but ive got to say my cats my cats my cats .... welllll theyre my beautys
Im still In LOVE with my Kruger!

Lmao Cheetah It does sound Hillarious but its true that day I climbed into the back window of my dads Mercedes I was so scared, my brothers completely forgot about the elephant and packed up laughing at me and then he just kept mock charging us which made it worse, I am extremely wary of elephants I have full on panic attacks just seeing them, naturally my family laughs themselves sick at me everytime but ja I say rather a careful Jan than a Dead one :naughty:

As for a TR yip I will do that and hopefully by that time Ive learnt how to post Pics onto the site lol :cam: :hmz:

@cheetah: i haven´t said that i was disappointed with the S100. We had a lot of interesting sightings there but we didn´t see any predators.
We were just unlucky with Satara when we were there - we have been driving to each direction without seeing any predators.

@Sheenaugh-Lee: i will cross my fingers for your next trip over your birthday.

Shenaugh-Lee - Duques is a wise man!!
I discovered birds very recently and it has changed our visits for ever.
We still love looking for (and seeing) the bigfive, but birds add a new dimension.
Also the small five is very interesting.
Finally I was once told that the bush will reveal to you what she wants you to see!!

All that aside, will hold thumbs for you ijn August!!

And have a look for the "ugly five" - hyena, wildebeest, warthog, lappet-faced vulture and marbou stork.

I do agree with you Micetta. but they are small and not impressive  So far I love seeing raptors and storks and the big birds. but their are countless species that are small and it is overwealming for me to try learn the types. I have been trying to some extent but I dont get very far :?

You must join the Birding School for Ducklings

There are lots of middle sized coloured beautiful birds   Just think of the satisfaction of recognizing it. You don't have to be a "Mad Birder" to enjoy the bird

Micetta is so right!!!

I only started an interest in birds in Oct, and with a bird guide and 2 trips to Kruger I can now identify many birds. I still need ID help sometimes, but mostly I can do it myself.
