I am considering hosting a photographic workshop/seminar about photographing birds for users of this forum and would like to know if there would be any interest from formites.. The cost would be to cover the venue/refreshment and literature and as such I don't forsee it being that high.

Let me have your thoughts..

I would be interested - whereabouts in the country are you?

Will it be for beginners?

Depends on content, length, location and date etc
What about excluding refreshments? (People bring their own)

Jungle JunkieI am in JHB.. I am willing to travel but costs will then be increased.. :(

joshilewis I am very open to all suggestions.. my idea was to share some specific info about shooting birds and then maybe helping with specific problems that people might be having... was thinking about a half day session or if wanted, maybe full day session where some time is then dedicated to some practical shooting for the attendees..

JHB.... That is around 9100 kilometers from here, so not easy to pop over.

Why not add a topic like this one for the international visitors?

True - not so easy to pop over.. but actually only 12 hours away.. send the airline ticket and I will be there!! LOL :) :)

I did actually comment on that thread. I could post a thread like that but face to face interaction often works much better.. It's like attending a course or doing it correspondence... attending is always easier...

I will however work on a document for posting here..

I must admit that I did expect more of a response here. I have offered a seminar/workshop to members of the forum for free... something that I normally charge a fair amount for...

Professional photographers are often accused of not wanting to help enthusiasts and amateurs and yet when we offer our services, these are not wanted...

For the three that are interested, we can set up a date and we can hold it at my premises at a time convenient to everyone.

Hi Robbie

I think it is would be great and would love to attend if the logistics work out - roughly where are you based?

Unfortunately my time seems to be not my own at the moment but I would do my best to somehow take you up on such a generous offer.

Robbie,

I think what you are doing is a great idea. I have seen and love your pictures, but had no idea that you were actually a professional photographer that is capable of really make something like this great, rather than somebody that can take good photos - and maybe a lot of other people didn't realise it either.

Me personally? I have a little Finepix S1000 point-'n-shoot. Yes, it does have some functions, but not even close to what a DSLR has, let alone when one adds lenses to the latter. So, while I would like to take better photos, I do realise that I first need to get a better camera. And for that I need money which I don't have right now. So, for me, it will be a waste, probably more of a frustration, to go, though I would love to. :wall:

But I do believe that the people who do go with you will get a lot out of it.

And keep up with offering, and especially sharing your lovely photos with us on the forums.

Robbie, I would love to take part too, but it is a bit far away.
It would be great, if you could post some tips here for those oversea forumites.

Robbie, I'm not sure it was so clear that it was for free (refreshments etc).
I'm interested

From my original post..
"The cost would be to cover the venue/refreshment and literature and as such I don't forsee it being that high."

I didn't believe that me asking for my costs to be recovered was unreasonable! :hmz: :hmz:
