Video Theme, favourite wildlife encounters

Unread postby Nico » Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:06 pm

When you have favourite encounters with wildlife in SANParks on video, show them?
Here some favourite encounters that we had in KNP in the last 6 years. 8)

This was my first visit to KNP and we saw this on the way out. It was back in 1991 so camcorders weren't as sophisticated. It was filmed on a Canon E60. I think I can remember approximately where it was but can anyone pinpoint it?

Excellent videos.... Great idea. I have not done much video, mostly still photography, perhaps on my next visit I will give it a try.

Nico, were you at Pafuri around the beginning of August?

Loved the video, especially the ostrich dance at the end.

Hi rayb, yes we were there 3 and 5 of August. Are you the person with the same camera that I have, Canon XM2 that we met on the Pafuri picknickspot? :D

Yup and I saw you at either Lower Sabie or Satara later in the week. I was going to ask if you might be the famous Nico but thought it would be too much of a coincidence. Small world eh? :)

Hi rayb, yes it is a small world . Sorry that I didnt recognized you but your Avatar is to small. A pitty that we talked to short, we absolutely would have had a very nice conversation. Next time we will! Did you filmed great shots on your trip? I must say, you and I have great camera's so I hope to see some of your video's on the forum. 8)

Greetings

Can't believe we missed the opportunity but as you say, next time. To be honest, the video I took is not brilliant. I made a decision not to spend my holiday looking into a viewfinder and missing the action live. A good example is an incident with a big herd of buffs v. elephants. With two well positioned cameras it would have made a great video but I just left the camera running on a wide lens and watched. As a result, I have some great memories in my head and hopefully a story to tell in my trip report.

Like you say, the XM2 is a great camera but I think I will need to invest in HD soon.
