The Apacer 40GB works like a dream. Since it has it's own battery that also supplies power to the 14-in-1 card reader it makes it versatile and can download my CF, my brother's Memstick and my Girlfriend's SD card all from the same piece of eqiupment right in the bush without an eskom plug in sight :)
Then when I get back to my laptop in the evenings, just plug in and download...[/i]

Hi,

A newbie here. I've been reading this site for the past week and am very impressed at the passion people show for the Park.

Anyway, on to the kit:

Canon 1dMII
24-70 ef
70-200 ef
35-350 ef
sigma 120-300
Sigma 17-35
1.4 extender

Manfroto 190 tripod
and a rice bean bag once I get there (Thanks to this list for that tip!)

few CF cards, and a 100gig storage device.

Merv.

I've been debating with myself if I should add this or not, but I think it could help. On Sunday I was taking pics and forgot to put fully charged batteries into the digital cam. As luck would have it an opportunity for a pic came along and I was stuck, until I remembered my cellphone, a NOKIA7610. I used it in bright light with an unmoving subject and came up with this gem:

Image

I sharpened the image and slightly adjusted the colour with Photoshop, but don't underestimate your cellphone camera. In an emergency it might just do the trick.

I have just purchased a new camera. It is a Kodak EasyShare P850. It certainly is a huge improvement from my old digital camera which was pretty standard.

I was in Tanzania and Kenya this year, my rucksack is listed http://www.1ds.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9&Itemid=11

Summarised as follows:-
1 x 1Ds Mark II (2 Canon Batteries, 1 x Quantum 2+2)
1 x 1D Mark II (2 Canon Batteries)
1 x Hasselblad H1 with Phase One P25 (Two batteries)
1 x 20D (Two batteries)

The Mark II’s are the main use cameras. H1 and 20D are the on the seat cameras for stuff that happens close and quickly, like a Cheetah or Leopard wandering by.

Lenses:-
1 x Canon 600/4 IS
1 x Canon 400/2.8 IS
2 x Canon 70-200/2.8 IS
1 x Canon 24-70/2.8 IS
1 x Hasselblad 80/2.8
1 x Hasselblad 35/3.5
1 x Hasselblad 150/3.5
2 x Canon 1.4x Teleconverter (Mark II’s)
2 x Canon 2x Teleconverter (Mark I and Mark II)
1 x Hasselblad 1.7x teleconverter

For next years trip to Kruger in April, my sister and beau are coming, so they'll take my 300/2.8 and 400/4DO as well. I have a D30 lying around, but I think that can stay home. Might chuck a 5D in the mix for them, or a 350D (or its replacement)

list goes on if you talk window mounts, wimberley heads etc etc....

always a worry in customs awaiting lenses to come through ... hehe

Cheers

Rob

I have had this camera for about 4 years and have been very happy with it, using it all over the world, but it is time to move up. So my next purchase will be a Canon Powershot S2 IS as soon as I find one on sale. :D

Olympus Camedia C-3020 Zoom
3.2 megapixels
Optical zoom 3 x
Digital zoom 2.5 x
Shooting modes Frame movie mode
Shooting programs Landscape, Night mode, Sports mode, Portrait mode
Special effects Sepia, Black & White

Batteries
2 sets of 4 rechargeable Energizer AA (Usually take 4 extra disposables)
Energizer charger (takes 15 hours :( )

Memory
5 - 128 MB Smart Media Cards (169 photos per card)
4 - 84 MB Smart Media Cards ((84 photos per card)
128 MB is maximum for this camera.

Photo organizer, editing software
