Lion Queen's how much rain can a Kalahari .... KNP, Mar '14

Unread postby lion queen » Mon Mar 03, 2014 7:08 pm

Well we've been in the park now two days.....and we've pretty much seem more rain than what I've seen my entire life time in Upington!!

Not really but it feels like it!!!

It's been a very quiet start to this trip and unusual for me I haven't taken much photos up to now!!!

We've had some interesting sightings, but more of the human kind than the animal kind!!!

Will fill in as we go and then hopefully do a full TR with photos once we're home!!!

Saturday 5:18pm :
Booked in @LS and *unmentionably* HOT and humid ! I clutched out and the aircon enabled me to do have a bit of a Zzzzzz !
 A Kalahari lioness clutching out from the heat ?

Today 12:21pm :
I am almost sure that KNP might be in for floods. We saw many tortoises today and all of them heading away from the rivers !
Would have loved being part of the 'build up'

Today 5:35pm :
Been raining all day and will have to be an indoors potjie tonight 8) but.... our neighbours are braaing ! An umbrella tied to their braai and the fire just started.... have taken "before" pics ......
 ....... !

And the BEST news of ALL :D
Today 5:37pm :
Remember the Leopard with Snare near Lower Sabie topic ? Saw this leopard 2km south from LS today :D Alive and well although the wound still appears raw, he seems to be in great condition  and....also spotted an emerging tusker this morning !
Can't wait for your actual report and photos, LQ :D !

LQ just let me know that they have just done the S26, onto the S114 and it is almost certain that the S26 as well as some other dirt roads, will be closed soon, Carol !
