Thank you Trrp-trrrrrrr, Hilda and Kaapsedraai

Kaapsedraai you are right on, there was a lot of activity around Nyamundwa dam our whole trip, we got lions twice, leopard, buffalo, FE doing their thing in the visinity. As you approach the dam into the lollipop the FE was in the big tree on the right hand side of the road 3 of the 4 times we were there, they are just beautifull!

Trrp-trrrrrrr thank you for the bday wishes, I appreciate it - was dreaming of spending it in the Park, this TR is giving me Kruger fever again....haha.

Day 3 we took the panoramic route to Graskop, the potholes and three rondavels. Always a nice drive

We did however go for a quick one into the Park in the late afternoon......few pics to follow soon :cam:

Day 3

After doing the awesome panoramic trip we decided to head for a late afternoon drive in at Phabeni Gate, S1 past the Nyamundwa dam, left on S4 dirt road, then left on S3 next to the Sabie river back towards Phabeni gate. This road has delivered great sightings for us in the past and we decided to enjoy every bit of it again, not a lot of sightings but being in Kruger beats any day in the office....enjoy!!

Martial eagle having some dinner, I love those yellow eyes
Image

Big bull causing some traffic delays

Image

Love the kudu bull, he was just a bit camera-shy
Image

Our last sighting of this drive were these giraffes approaching us straight on, they decided to dissapear in the bush about ten meters from our vehicle, very majestic the way they walk

Day 4 was our best day with good reason, will try not to delay with the post too long....stay tuned, you will enjoy this one.......

I hope that you had a lovely birthday yesterday, KNP Junkee. :gflower:

Your bird pictures are just wonderful. You have captured those lovely colors and certainly brightened my day.

KNP-Junkee, the S3 is such a beautiful drive through all the trees next to the river.

Beautiful Martial and also that Kudu horns - seemed to quite impressive. :D

Ai, those ellies - love to have their own time and 'tease' us as visitors. :D :D

The gerries...all the heads popping up on the road. Lovely 'models' of the park.

Look forward to next episode... do not be too long...

A lovely drive with awesome sightings KNP-Junkee! Just love the Martial Eagle!

I would also give that huge Ellie preference in which way to go!

What a massive set of beautiful horns that Kudu has! I can sit and watch the Giraffes eating and roaming for hours. Such elegant animals!

Thanks MM for the bday wishes, I certainly had an awesome bday thanks to friends, family and forumites.
Also thanks for the nice comments on my photos, very happy it meant something to you

Kaapsedraai thanks for the comments, I also appreciate the S3, I guess once youve had a special sighting on a certain road the whole perspective of that road changes, its all about the experience indeed, those trees are very special!

Hilda thanks for the comments, the Martial eagle was just too far for my lens capability to get THAT shot, he was posing perfectly for a killer photo, I guess I will have to book another trip then......haha

Trrr-trrrrrrrrp - I like your name and I can almost hear them calling, thanks for great comments. When i get time I am following your TR as well, then my hunger for Kruger is unleshed as well

Barryels thanks for your comments, welcome aboard. There is no sunset or sunrise like one in the bush!!

Our best day of the trip is next, don't go too far and enjoy the weekend :sniper:

Day 4

Right, it is time for our best day of the trip. I will let the photos do the talking, we entered early at Phabeni Gate, it was still dark and we were in pursuit of the elusive one again. Just as we got to Nyamundwa dam we got to lions in the road, probably the same three we saw earlier in the week, they took off onto the enbankment and walked away into the bush

Image
Image

I thought this was a really nice way to start the day just before sunrise
Image

Then a few cars looking to the right, I just saw the flash of a white tail and thought I would pass the cars and park a fair distance from where the cars were, then she passed right in front of us

Image
Image
Image

Wow we were stoked, she was so quick the cars behind us missed her, she was gone in a flash!! We haven't even seen an impala yet, and already lions and the elusive one!! Not taking the sunrise for granted at all!!

Then not even 100 metre down the road our third of the big five
Image

We got ellies and buffalo in the distance so we had the big five in the bag. I decided to take the S114 past Renosterkoppies and look what we found resting on the rocks

A big male spotted one
Image

He had a kill in a tree close by but his belly was too full to get up the tree again....haha
So he just flopped down again.
Image
Image

The hyenas were in hot pursuit to scavenge but he was just not interested at all, I got these nice shots telling the story....

Image

Make sure you see the leopard on top of the rocks
Image

Then a clos-up of this guy, he was wearing his batlle-scars really well
Image

Second half of this day to follow soon......

How wonderful if your day starts with a Lion sighting and a lovely sunrise KNP-Junkee!

Luck certainly was on your side with that Leopard to cross the road in front of your car! As if it wasn't enough, another huge male Leopard! Beautifully captured too!
