what a pity that the lions moved behind the bush, PF and DD, but it is a great pic anyway

and a honey badger

I like your nightlife, especially the first one, but unfortunately I cannot help with the id. :(

TUESDAY 29TH OCTOBER
We had heard a lion roaring in the early hours so went over to the bird hide but no sign of them.

We decided to go for a quick drive at 6.56am (22°).
We drove south – Wildebeest. Springbok. Pygmy Falcon.

Marie se Draai: nothing at the waterhole. So we turned around and headed back.

We were back in camp at 8.00am and walked straight over to bird hide as Wildebeest were arriving. Quite a herd and they were keen to drink.

The Wildebeest moved off.
That Crimson-breasted Shrike came to look in again - 'no, we do not have any breakfast for you!'

We filled up with fuel, had breakfast and packed the car again.
We left camp at 9.30am (31°). Today we were heading north for our first stay at Grootkolk Wilderness Camp for three nights with high expectations of good sightings.Image

Awesome pictures of the Blue Wildebeest Peregrine Falcon! There are people who think they are ugly, but I think they are beautiful!

Lovely bird sightings, but the Honey Badger sighting is awesome, as is that fat Lizard!

Hi Val, so glad you're on board for this our first trip report.DD has finally mastered the art of loading the pictures and posting the TR.We have very fond memories of meeting you two at 2R and sitting outside your chalet chatting as if we had known each other for years.Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip, we're only slightly  .
Hilda, we totally agree with you about the under estimated Wildebeest.
Pumbaa, thanks for your kind comments and we must agree that lion is a handsome fellow, even with his windswept hair.

All for now and hopefully DD will upload the next part of our TR.

PF & DD.

Awesome :cam: of the Wildebeest.  ..Wonderful to see the zoomed in animals...bringing the water hole so much closer.
I sometimes  when there are Cats on the cam would it not be awesome if one could zoom in..how exciting would that not be.

Another great Honey Badger sighting and pics.

The cabins are all on ground level with the kitchen outside. A wall and wire fence surround the cabin. This is an 'unfenced' camp so we were wary whenever we walked to the car. Image
