Hi Fotomaljohan

Enjoying your TR. Great photos.

Love the Warthogs, one of my favourite animals they are great characters.

I love Berg n Dal camp too. It feels different to others.
I encountered a lovely little mongoose when I was walking part of the Rhino Trail on my own. Also the baboons were going mad and I was hoping for a leppie but couldn't see one.

Those table raiders at Afsaal are demons and so quick!

Looking forward to more.

Regards,
DASSIEDELIGHT

Before we travel any further, I will have to do a Roll Call  of everyone that is travelling with us on the bus! Less we accidentally leave someone behind.

Trrp-trrrrrrr; Kaapsedraai;Philip1; Songodin; lion queen; Meandering Mouse; Super Mongoose; Pumbaa; isinkwe; SuperCindy; charbel; Wild about cats; DASSIEDELIGHT and Janeli.

Now that I have accounted (hopefully) for everyone on board, I want to thank you all so much for your time and for the very nice comments you left here in my Trip Report.

One day en route to Skukuza, we stopped at Renosterkoppies waterhole just in time to see a lone male lion in stalking mode, eyeballing a few impalas.

Image

It did not take long, for these sensitive creatures to actually spot the lion where he was almost invisible and flat in the grass.

Image

After the “bokkie” alarm was sound, the majority of the impalas decided it was safer to abandon the waterhole.......and the lion and move away to a safer distance!

Image

However, two rather brave impala rams were not intimidated by the nearby lion and stayed at the waterhole, even looking at the disappointed lion.

Image

After a while, with all the impalas gone, the hungry lion could only look at a dove remaining at the now deserted waterhole and had to start the waiting game all over again!

Image

All for now folks! :hmz: :hmz: :hmz:

Fotomaljohan, definitely a great sighting with the lion watching the impies at the waterhole. Love the composition of pics with the king at the back.

Love that protective elephant mum and kudu herd. My eyes are not used to so many kudus at a time.

Looks like a fun breakfast with all the feathered friends and critters joining in. Last time one jumped into our skottel while it was still hot and wonder if it was not painful but I am sure they in to hurt themselves.

It amazing how the lion became clearer after he was caught out by the impalas. Great series of photos at Renosterkoppies.

Handsome, if disappointed lion. Love the series of pics.

Again, I do love the way you capture the surrounding bush. I can feel that I am there.

We have completed our first 5 night stay at Berg & Dal all too soon and had to leave without seeing the beautiful leopard …..........
Image

and the Doggies.............
Image

…..........that we have seen here on previous occasions.

Our next 5 night stay was at Lower Sabie with lots of exciting events!

We drove the long way up north via Skukuza (brunch) and down to LS Camp all the way next to the beautiful Sabie river and past Sunset Dam.

Image

At the turn off to Pretoriuskop on the way to Skukuza we have seen the klipspringers on previous occasions and luck was on our side again!

Image

Also a giraffe pulling faces at us!

Image

We made a pit stop at Skukuza to have a look at the controversial new hotel and to check if any progress was made with it.

Image

The old railway bridge over the Sabie river from the Skukuza restaurant.

Image

Lo and behold the new Mombolo Mdhluli Conference Centre was completed and functional.

Front view, main entrance!

Side view from the front stoep.

Next up ….....Lower Sabie!

Fotomaljohan,

:( You did not get to see the Wild dogs and Leppie...But just to be there is reward enough.

Old railway bridge always stands out for me. 8)

Sunset dam always has something to see.

Looking forward to see what Lower Sabie had to show you.
