DAY CONTINUED ............

All the early morning starts were beginning to catch up us and so spent a nice relaxing afternoon in camp. We were so chilled out, we even contemplated not going out for a drive. The thought, however, of perhaps missing out on something was too great and so we all piled into the car and went out for a late 2.5 hour drive. We crossed the bridge and took a look back at camp, the view is just stunning!!!
We arrived at the H10 intersection and my SO turned left onto the Old Tshokwane road (S128). A little voice in my head said "no you are going the wrong way" and so asked my SO if we could rather take the Mlondozi Road (S29). He sort of rolled his eyes at me but gave in and turned around to continue onto the S29. We saw our first yellow ribbon  and had the pleasure of meeting of Kaapsedraai 8) We had a bit of a chat about his sightings along the road, he said they had seen some general game but nothing much else. My SO glanced over at me and had this "I told you so" look on his face. So we asked ourselves do we turn around and go down the other road or do we carry on. We decided to carry on and boy oh boy   Not even 10 minutes later, you will never guess what happened...... I get giddy even now as I think about it.

PS: The next episode is NOT for the faint hearted :naughty:

Just caught up again SurfCindy. What a fantastic trip you've had thus far. And now we're all hanging on for the next episode.

I'm still smiling at the image of the smile going right around your SO's head, except that his ears were in the way!

Thanks Pumbaa. It's always great to see the wild dogs in Kruger and this time they really gave us a showing. It was fantastic to see the interaction between them. I love Lake Panic, so always stop

DAY 5 CONTINUED ............

During our chat with Kaapsedraai, a few cars passed us and we were left last in what you would call an afternoon drive queue. Our expectations for the drive werent very high and so for the next 10 minutes my mom and I were chatting whilst my SO was spotting feathered friends.
Next moment he said "There's a buffalo." I looked over to my right but it was quite far in the distance, so it didn't really grab my attention.
Then he said "There's another buffalo." I still wasn't that interested.
Then he said "S@$#!£t there's a LION on top of the buffalo."

Well now I was listening and looking  and it was COMING TOWARDS US    getting closer and closer. I could hear the distress calls of the buffalo and the grunting of the lions.
My adrenalin was now pumping and I was shaking with excitement. Was I really seeing this????????
I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real. It was real!!!!
We tried to flash down the car in front of us but no success and so wee were left on our own to watch this truly amazing spectacle.
I will stop writing and let the pictures tell the story.

Wow SurfCindy! What a sighting!

I feel so sorry for that poor Buffalo, but I know the Lions have to eat! Definitely the right place at the right time! I can't believe that the oncoming car's people missed this exciting incident! :hmz:

Wow wow wow - how good is this sighting.
I've heard buffalo bellowing while being killed by lions and its not nice. It seems to take forever for the lions to subdue the buff. Yes I know lions have to eat, but its seems such an excruciatingly slow way to die.
How lucky were you at being in the right place at that time.

Can't wait for see what happens next - who will win???

Oh my goodness! The poor buff. That's what you call having your steak on the run!
Can't wait to see the rest of the episode. I hope it didn't take too long for the buffs sake.
