Thanks for the great TR Bushbuddies. We visited Marakele in December for a quick break and I happened to visit without doing any background reading and being blissfully unaware that they had lions. I was birding around the tents on foot
............but I was rudely reminded of their presence. Apart from this I got a leopard on the camera trap right besides our tent. See the little piece on me finding out about the lions on page 2 in my TR.......Marakele Quickie
Hey Waterbuck - looks like you also had a great trip to Marakele!
And that you also experienced a bit of the wind at Tlopi at night, and also walked around birding in camp (we did too - BEFORE the lion sighting...
). Thanks for your input here!
Must have been a wonderful stay there, Bushbuddies,
and besides the stunning scenery all around the lions close to your camp must have been the highlight
What a beautiful nyala bull as well
Thanks so much it was a pleasure to know a bit more about this park
Thanks for all your comments and compliments again, Pumbaa - always fun to have you on board!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful TR with us.
I for one had a great ride and hope to visit the park someday.
..on my wishlist.
Good Trrp-trrrrrrr, definitely put it on that list!
Thanks also for your kind comments and compliments along the way!

I think I would go back, just for those braais. Stunning location, great atmosphere.
Good! Thanks for all your lovely comments, pictures and compliments!
Amazing to see so many lions that are not suppose to be seen
Will be visiting Marakele during October and hopefully we will also see them then
Thanks for sharing
Aha! Good to hear you are going!
It really is quite close to us, and a lovely little park to visit. I'll be holding thumbs for you for lions...
It's gonna be lekker, hilda!
Exactly same time that we also went. Hope there will be some early spring rains this year!

you have just convinced me to visit Marakele again. Great sightings and wonderful photos taken by you.
I have one question on the road to Tlopi camp and would like to know if you can tow an off-road trailer to the camp. We will be visiting Botswana, where we will use our off-road trailer and on the way back wanted to stay at Mapungubwe or Marakele.
Can't really decide but more convinced it will be nicer to stop at Marakele for 2 days.
That sounds like a lekker trippie!
I've never been to Mapungubwe myself - another one to still be ticked off on our list. I don't see that it should be a problem with an off-road trailer - agree with Waterbuck. Maybe with a normal trailer, it could be a bit more chalenging in one or two rocky areas, but with an off-road trailer - you should be fine. Good luck on the decision and have a great time!
Glad you enjoyed it Melphie - and thanks for joining in again. Now you'll have to put a few more SANParks parks on your list to come and visit...
