As it was 39 degrees by now the air was shimmering and the pictures did not turn out very nice. Nevertheless, I was so happy to see a leopard. He also thought it was too hot and stayed in the shade for more than an hour while we were parked in the blazing sun. Then we had to leave him.

As it was quite late already we did not go back to Unions End as we originally had planned but went straight on the road to Gharagab

We were surprised to see many tracks on the road and only got to know upon arrival that no one stayed in the camp the night before and that we were the only ones to stay here that night.

We were allocated unit three with the switch for the light at the waterhole. I really loved that. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that at Grootkolk? The rest of the afternoon we watched the birds, red hartebeest and gemsbok at the waterhole and the mice next to our unit

Unfortunately there were loads of moths or bugs when the outside lamp was on and we had to eat inside. But we had a good laugh because of them as well. A gecko was on the wall trying to catch them. He must have been a little bit careless and fell down right into my SO’s sneaker. He seemed confused when he reappeared with his catch still in his mouth but seemed to be fine.

Our last visitor was this jackal

we went to bed with the sound of the barking geckos which seemed to live right next to the unit.

To have a camp all to yourselves sounds awesome, but it must have felt strange at the same time Gatita? :D

Beautiful Lion and Leopard sightings, all keeping to the shade during the heat of the day, which means you could take your time taking pictures!

Lots of cute little mice at Gharagab, and your unit looks very nice!

Another sweet little rodent. :D Thank you.

I just love your pictures of roads less traveled. I always want to jump straight into a car and try them out.

Gharagab is indeed a lovely camp, Pumbaa.

I know the pics are terrible but I vow this time we saw a leopard.

I would have preferred to have better light for the pics, Hilda. :(
