as we continue we find

Image

howling a message to his lady

Image

as far as my jackal vocabulary goes, he wanted to know what she was doing about breakfast for him :naughty:

this

Image

also wanted to know what was on the breakfast menu.
A bit further along this little family

Image

were enjoying their breakfast

this

Image

was meandering her way through the bush, not at all bothered by the hyena.
this guy

Image

poked his head out to see what all the fuss was about and to check if

Image

were still ok

As we continue our journey we find this guy

Image

It looks like he may have had a narrow escape in the past. Looking at his markings on his side, when mother nature repaired his wound she could not quite get his stripes back in line, but I think it makes him quite unique.
A little steenbok checking this bus out.

Image

All is quiet at Nsemani dam

Image

Image

Then some

Image

going about their business and quite a large

Image

and some

Image

Now we arrive at Satara, time to find a campsite and set up home for the next 3 nights.
Yes , I hear the excitementImage in the bus, I can see the site next to the fence, glad you all agree, lets head in that direction
You are all correct, I agree that this site will be fine for us

Image

Image

Thanks for all the help with the setting up folks, look there , our first fence visitor

Image

Image

Now there is still some time to go out again for a drive, so all aboard the Image , lets go see what else we can findImage

Hello Norms, welcome, you are not too late, we are still busy with our afternoon drive
Thanks for the coffee and rusks

sparrow, thanks for the tip about the charcoal, the reason I brought some charcoal was just in case heksie wanted to help with the fire. I just want to give her some lessons on fire making, if you remember, the last time heksie started a wood fire, she set her dress alight, Image we don't want that happening this time round

Thank you everybody for your nice comments and joining us on this trip

back to the afternoon drive

Image

Image

and a youngster

Image

taking a stroll with his rather large extended family

Image

Now its time we headed back to camp, there are plenty hungry and thirsty passengers on this bus.

Shushin , please have the drinks ready for us
and I need my assistant chef, matthys - where are you? please come forward and give me a hand with tonight's dinner
The rest can take it easy, relax Image or maybe a Image
We shall be preparing your dinner shortly

Thanks shushin for doing the necessary shopping, its a hard job and we all appreciate your willingness to help keep our glasses filled up
Thanks heksie for sweeping our campsite and keeping it clean. A neat and tidy campsite is a happy campsite :D

Now you can all sit back and relax, fire going , drinks in hand while you watch the sunset on our first night

maybe not everything on your wish list (yet )shushin, but maybe a bonus point for the baby hippo, :hmz: the baby was so new he/she could hardly balance on its feet, a really awesome sighting , I think :D

No, we didn't leave you behind foofootjie, I was just moving the bus around the corner to the next page :D
Lucky carol g was keeping an eye out for you- She does not like washing dishes
lets move along :D

By now its quite hot and I think most animals are laying down in the shade, this guy was trying his fit into a very small patch of shade.

Image

in the heat of midday, I suspect we may have some more luck back at the dam :hmz:

This young fellow charged into the dam

Image

to have a swim with his mates

Image

The little hippo and its mom were out the water again checking out all the ruff and tumble stuff the elephants were getting up to in their home

Image

This elephant got a bit too close for comfort so mom took the little one back the relative safety of the water. Have a look at the excavation on the bank, I think mom might have made this for her baby as a sort of paddling pool. When they were in the water , the little was kept in that space right up against the bank. If that is the case, I say what a clever and protective mother hippo she is

Image

Image

A starling came by to check us out

Image

but voiced his protest when I wanted to see how close I could get to him

Image

I am sure that I could have touched him if I had wanted, but decided not to , instead I just sat back and enjoyed the moment while it lasted :D :D

some zebra came down for a drink

Image

and also some

Image

Image

Back at the camp a scops

Image

Image

Now I think its time to get the wood fire(for heksie) going for supper

Image

Image

while we are preparing for supper, a visitor comes strolling by >>>>>>>>>>>>

Trp trrrrrrrrr, thanks for offering to help out with the chores, most of the jobs have already been allocated, but I am sure foofootjie would not mind a helper with the dishes, with 26 people on this trip, there are always plenty dishes :D , Thank you very much :gflower:
Cape of storms
Glad you enjoyed supper, and got some extra amarula's while chatting with nkulu, sounds like fun, I should have joined you instead of going to bed

Jump in all. lets go for a ride

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

we arrive at

Image

while carrying all the breakfast goodies to the table, a leopard appears, I drop everything, charge back to the bus for the camera. Get back and the leopard has moved off, probably because this

Image

was almost the same place.
That's now two misses with the camera this trip-first cheetah and now leopard :wall:

Now that we are here, we may as well have some

Image

after breakfast we find this,
shushin , better tell your SO to look away, I know hippo's are his favourite , and he wont want to see lion with hippo breakfast

There were another six lionesses with the hippo, but deep in the grass resting, full tummies, but this guy was not too far away

Image

Heksie
Glad you enjoyed your supper :D , no, not a blackie, would have been a real bonus if it was
Dellac
Don't worry about closing the bus door, My fault , I don't know how many times I have to tell myself, " don't go anywhere in Kruger without a camera"
please stay on board, as you have seen we are all happy to have you with us.
Kaapsedraai
I am sure you will get your Honey Badger at Tamboti in December, that was only my second sighting in 40 odd years of visits
Cheetahlady
Very special indeed to see two different cats from Timbavati, its not the first time I have seen lion and leopard there  :D
Carolg
Very happy you enjoyed your breakfast with us at Timbavati
Sparrow, Phokojwe and Vinkie
There is nothing to describe seeing cats walk past a picnic site while sitting having breakfast
Matthys
assistant chef, could not do all this food without your help, thank you :gflower:
Pumbaa
Honey Badger is indeed a special sighting, we were alone with him for about 15 minutes watching him dig about in the sand, and boy, can they dig a hole in the ground very quickly, amazing to watch
