Hi Elsa! I am so that I am not able to be with you, Klystron, Val and Dungie next week in person but will definitely be with you in spirit! I didn’t realise you were heading off so soon and are in the park already! Lucky you.

I can’t believe there’s been so much rain AGAIN this year – good to hear that San Parks are on the ball with regard to repairing and patching up the roads.

Enjoy your time at Olifants and the rest of your time in the park. I have just been in touch with Val today and have been able to arrange a quick meet. I’m taking Mum back for 3 nights from 23 Feb (when I realised I wasn’t able to join you all the week before, I knew I wouldn’t last till my next planned trip in April!). We’ll be going in at Malelane and will have a quick meet up with Val and Richard there.

Hi Wendy, very sad that you were not able to join us bit glad you will still get that quick trip in and a meet with Val and Dungie.
OLIFANTS was great in terms of the stunning views but again sightings were to put it mildly "scarce" but there was generally enough to keep us happy and we had some nice ones down the S39 as far as Timbavati picnic site.
I am not going to go into too much detail or post pics until I do my report proper.
Dprove the S90 down to Satara yesterday and we had a few good sightings but nothing spectacular.
Grass was extremely long.
Was allocated bungalow 174 here in Satara, not as close to the fence as I would have liked but as I hadn't done a request can't complain.
Did see a large herd of Wildebeest galloping past the fence last night and heard Lions roaring albeit quite a distance away.
The bird life in camp is quite amazing and we have enjoyed watching them and hearing their constant chattering since we returned from our early drive this morning.
Did the famous S100 and got to see our first in a week Lion sighting!! And even that was only a brief look before he collapsed down into the long grass.
We will be going out again in a little while to see what else we can find.

Hoping it's not as hot for you up there as it is for us down here. Sweltering here today at 32C (excl humidity).

Glad you finally got to see a Lion, hopefully you will see plenty more.

Hi Elsa! *SIGH* it sounds as if you are having a lovely time. Olifants never fails to deliver with regard to the views! I can imagine how long the grass is with all the recent rain ... I just hope that Mum and I have a drier time when we are there the weekend after next than we had in October last year! I have a SUPER DOOPER week booked in April and have done all my unit requests already ... was only unable to get one of my preferred units and that was at Lower Sabie ... I was lucky enough to win a raffle last year in October for a very larney weekend at a private bush lodge in the Timbavati. I am going with a colleague from work in April and we have booked a week in Kruger first, including a night at Sable Hide (after going there with Heksie in October, I will always try and stay there - as long as I'm not alone!!! ).

Hope you are having a good drive as I'm typing this and that you enjoy the rest of your time in Kruger. I look forward to reading your "TR Proper" when you get home!

Sounds wonderful Wendy and hopefully by April things will have dried out somewhat.
It was very hot here today and when we left for our drive at 4pm it was very 34C and had only dropped to 32 by 5.30!
As the S 12 is still closed we could only drive as far as Girivana and had to retrace our steps.
Then drove as far as the detour on the H7 and on the way back had to stop and wait for a huge herd of Buffalo to cross, must have been 300 plus.
A bit further on had a fantastic sighting of a Martial Eagle down in the grass with a kill, think it could have been a large Lizard of sorts.
Back at camp while eating supper we were visited by an African wild cat and her kitten, a first for us so a big thrill.
Tomorrow we move on south to our time share at Kruger Gate.
