I am catching up, noel.

That maraboe is quite a unique sighting and I have never seen one like that. :cam:

The colourful birdies are also magnificent.

Those piggies...they are really cute and you got them at the right time.

Thank you for sharing and I am enjoying the TR...

Love your three bachelors ...all posing in a triangle...all on guard duty...on the lookout for any predators.

Those warties are adorable..  .. 8) .. :D believe it or not are one of my favorite animals.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks you Trrp-Trrrr  . Much appreciated your comments. I think Warthogs are one of the favorite animals of a lot of people. We're just a bit scared to say it. They have a good reputation, brave and has been known to put many a lion and cheetah on the run. Ugly but intelligent.

Moving along-the day is getting long, and its my last night. Feeling a bit gloomy like the overhead skies.
Practicing some infrasonic communication
Image

And always great to see a Hooded Vulture. Somehow always look sad. Joining all the other raptors and just chillin in the trees.
Image

This Hippo was negotiating he Sabie River.
Image

Image

This Baboon tried to do a Spiderman imitation :)
Image

A white breasted Comorant
Image

A lone Fish Eagle keeping vigilance at Sunset Dam.
Image

White faced Duck and Black Winged Stilt hiding amongst the shrubs.

And its time for a rest at LS, except I somehow have some energy and decide I will explore what's in the camp for an hour or so.

Very few birds around Lower Sabie. Here's a sure indication that it is not a hot day-the bird bath all deserted
Image

Saw this Sparrow of sorts
Image

So I love flowers, and Barberton Daisies are a delight-had some in my garden a few years back.
Image

Image

And when you are looking at flowers, you notice some of the goggas too. This is a rather beautiful black and yellow bug. Blends so well with those yellow flowers.
Image

Image

A hippo from the restaurant deck

And a familiar sight to us all and quite sickening-makes you miss Kruger so much more

Some more exciting stuff from Lower Sabie
Down in the riverbed, the White Winged Weavers were displaying profusely.
Image

Image

Image

Interspersed with some more flowers
Image

And blessed with another sighting in LS of a Heuglin's Robin
Image

Image

Image

The fountain that see as you take that walk along the river.
Image

That master refuse removal-Dung Beetle-closest I have ever got to one.
Image

And this one I call the 3-dot Beetle. Notice the water drops on the body.
Image

And a weaver of sorts (I think)
Image

Well that ended my short exploration of Lower Sabie, and delighted with a 2nd sighting of a Heuglin's Robin.

I love the pictures of the Hippo in the Sabie River Noel! There is something special about it! Beautiful bird pictures too!  And the "Spiderman" Baboon ....

Stunning pictures of the yellow and black Bug on that yellow flower! According to my guide, it is a Blister Beetle. It secretes cantharidin which can blister the skin. Unfortunately I cannot find your "three-dot Beetle" in my guide. Maybe somebody else can assist? Beautiful flowers too!

It is very seldom that one doesn't find birds in the bird bath at Lower Sabie! In fact, I cannot recall that we have ever found the bird bath without the birdies!

How lucky for you to found another Heuglin's Robin! Awesome, as are the White Winged Weavers!

Thanks for sharing Noel!

Great TR, noel.

The reason is that you have included the beautiful and colourful flowers and the goggatjies. When in Kruger, it is not just about the Big ones but also the small creatures as well. :x

Wonder where the baboons is going to.. :hmz: .love the angle of the shot :cam:

Looking at the view of the cars going over the bridge...makes me want to leave now for Kruger

Hilda :k for identifying that yellow bug for me, I could not for the life of me remember what it was called, as I read about it here on the forum in someone else's TR, and I was too lazy to go and try and find it again. That "birdless" bath was a bit eerie, as you said, seldom there are no birds to be found. Thanks for commenting, appreciate that  .

Thanks Kaapsedraai, Appreciate your kind comments  . The Baboon was actually on the lookout for a more dominant male, it was a bit nervous. And I like all creatures-mosquitoes excluded. They are not insecets-they'r pests

Hi Sharifa, thanks you so much for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it  . Headless fish eagles onlt appear in overcast conditions. Very rare sighting. Hope you get to see that 2nd inflatable sac-so special to see it. I was a bit shocked when I saw it at first, and thought the bird was sick, with a hole in the neck, enabling it to inflate the sac via the back hole :slap: That was until I read Roberts.

I do hope you get to see that Violet backed Starling (is that the new name these days?). Thanks for commenting Bushbuddies, appreciated

Have an hour or so before I must leave for church, so let's see if I can get another dose in the meantime. Perhaps finish the rest of the day? So, after an hour or so meandering around Lower Sabie, it time to go hunting for some big cats. Not that it matters, but it would be nice. I did not get to see any that afternoon, though this was the afternoon I saw the Civet. With the rain, I'm still sticking to the main tar road.
First up-Trrp-Trrrr's wonderful family
