The sound of the Jacana is beautiful and strange for me. Can't imitate it to save my life but love hearing it. And the pale blue face and umbrella bone feet are mesmerising! I love seeing them and are always on the lookout for them on the lillies of all the dams I visit! Nice kiekies man!

Thanks Philip and Heksie. A quick post before I go sleep. I am having such trouble with Photobucket, now that they have gone and changed the way things are uploaded and edited.
En route back to Pretoriuskop.

Noel, I have been catching up with your trip report again.

What ellie bliss :D the swimming ellie was such an image of pure joy.

I am really enjoying your birds. The raptor was really magnificent shot. Did you get feedback on what kind of raptor is was?

More, please.

Lovely photos of the hamerkop!!! I always stop for them, can never take enough photies of them :D
And what bird is the kiekie after the giant kingfisher? Looks like a bee eater but have never seen one like that? You where exceptionally lucky with bird sightings man!
Pretoriuskop and me are not friends :naughty: drove the H1-1 to Numbi Gate on our way home and again I knew why! The grass is taller than my car! Couldn't see anything except a broad-tailed paradise wydah, which was a lifer for me (ok one bonus) but I prefer seeing the animals and not grass when I drive :w:
Love the kiekies

I would sit in that traffic anyday rather than the traffic jam down Beyers Naude dr in the morning the only big grey thing I see is my own car or the "honey suckel" truck.

If you've been following the Lake Panic Sightings thread - you'll understand why I'm not commenting (again) on the ID of that bird...

But have to comment that you took some beautiful shots!

Thanks MM, much appreciated! Did not submit it to the Raptor ID-maybe I should  Birds are of course the reason I go-I get frustrated with the few mossies (sparrows) hadedas, bulbuls around JHB with the occasional Weaver. I need more. And theres no place like KNP for birds.

Hi Hilda, thanks for your kind words. Jacanas ar amazing birds. Have no idea how they get over those water lillies with those long toes, but they do! Lovely to watch-so delicate, though I seem to think that they know when they are going to "sink" and then move on or take off in flight.
