...because you saw "all the jacks" together... usually one see them just jogging in some direction.
I also wondered why we have in Afrikaans titles such as "jakkals dans" (dance of the jackal) or "jakkals wals" (walz of the jackal) - Then I thought.... probably nothing to do with them being  1  2  3 - it is probably more to do with the "fox trot"?

And the "smell" inspector... we probably all need such an instrument nowadays to determine what meat we eat?

Thanks for sharing.

WoW for the python and the flying kori - We saw one who jumped a bit unenthusiastic in the air and spread its wings but landed far too soon on its legs again - Mission postponed but was funny to watch

Thanks Leachy

WOW Leachy, you had some fantastic sightings, and I have missed so much. Jackals just plain fabulous, as Me Skarabee said, you usually see them trotting off in one direct, and mostly get the behinds. Wonderful action captured.
As for the ZIT-go to be nominated for sighting of the year
And seeing the worlds largest flying bird actually flying-WOW. Wat het jy gedoen? Ek wil dit probeer :hmz:
Headless bird-sounds pure South African.
And a bonus to see a Python out in the open like that.
And the Croc with his catch. fantastic sequence. just love your sequence shots.

More please! Some legless creatures??

:) :) :) :)

so......................................

i was up and about nice and early

and caught this sunrise shot of the resident fish eagle

at the bend in sabie river as it heads east from the h4-2

.
.
Image
.
.

and i took a left turn on the s130 to the random pool on the right

where i was amazed by this family of gyppos

with their brood of fifteen fluffy chicks....

.
.
Image

.
.

and.......... at first glance..............

:slap: :slap: :slap: :slap:

what looked like an mfezi..... foaming at the mouth.....

.
.
Image
.
.

more evidence of the sun struggling to make it's way through the clouds
.
.
Image
.
.

nothing much else of any consequence.....

until the wetlands adjacent to the ntandanyathi hide junction...

.
.

in the far off distance i focussed on this fine looking feathered fellow foraging about on the floor of the dambo

:hmz: :hmz: :hmz: :hmz:

at first i thought it to be a vulture... as it clumsily waddled about in the long grass,

but on closer inspection via swarovski i saw it not to be so

.
.
Image
Image
Image

then after a long while it relocated onto the branch of a tree

after much deliberation and investigation i concluded that it should be a juvenile fish eagle

.
.
Image
Image
.
.

the excitement of this spectacle had me plumb tuckered out

so i headed back on the s28 towards home........

a short distance down the road this group of zebra

.
.
Image
,
,

and this little chap with an awful amount of scars for a lad of this stature

i guess it is indicative of life in the south.......

.
.
Image
Image

two members of the group were cavorting about trying to bite each other on the fetlocks
.
.
Image
Image
.
.

and kicking
.
Image
.
.

and rearing
.
Image
.

and laughing
.
.
Image
.
.

and necking.......
.
.
Image
.
Image
.
.

looked more playful than forceful .....................

:k :k :k :k

Sunrise + fish eagle + :cam:  Swarovski quality!

15 chicks! Hope they have some sort of "Nkandla" nest to care for them. :)

Zebras never disappoint - their stripes always neat - to make nice pictures

Leachy, what a gorgeous sunrise, just stunning.

Enjoyed the Zebras. They are such characters. You certainly had some great animal behaviour to watch this last trip.
