Isn't it amazing how the baby elephants manage to cross a river like that and still make it to the other side, you can clearly see they are totally submerged by the water, I wonder if animals close their eyes when under the water like that

I think that pool might be a little to small....

The life guard should really tell the bigger kids that the splash pool is only for the baby's

Hey Leachy! I am back feeding my San Parks addiction again! It has been h$ll without my daily “fix”!!!

It was great to meet you, Jacqui and Rob at Lower Sabie and share lots of laughs!

What a bizarre sighting - the rhino and buff ...!

Had to laugh at your comments about the zig-zag marks on the roads made by the ellie trunks ... I used to think they were snake tracks (bl**dy big snakes!)

Strange about the zebra and impala interaction ... I wonder what that was all about???

Great shots of the little wartie piglets – so cute!

I also love your shots of the buff being “attacked” by the terrapins at the waterhole on the S21!

Aaaaaawwwww .... I just LOVE the baby impies! I’d forgotten how cute they were!

How wonderful to have the lioness and cubs all to yourself! Gorgeous photos.

Then more lionesses as well!

Loved the Shakespearean tragedy story!

Great action shots of the zebbies at Duke’s and I loved the one where they “stood still for a group photo”!

BEAUTIFUL shots of the sunbirds in the Lower Sabie parking area ...

Looking forward to more!

so...........

while i was so engrossed with the elephant antics

the skies all around were transforming into an ominous omen

.
.

.
.

and i figured that the fit was gonna hit the shan

so i decided to head as rapidly as was safe and legal

to higher ground so as to try and capture the unfolding storm ..

i took the s29 mlondozi loop and stopped at the "vlei" for an update

.
.
Image
.
Image
.
.

and then "sped off" towards mlondozi.....

as i was not on a game drive at this stage but was merely trying to get to the picnic site

i believe that "murphy" had probably decided not to come with me and do things his way....

being in a raised body vehicle had probably assisted in the sighting of this cheetah fellow

at the base of the road sign cairn

.
.
Image
.
.

initially it seemed as though he was about to head off.....

but then he was on top of his look out spot and looking for supper

.
.
Image

.
.

after seeking and sniffing he hopped off and trotted away into the grasslands
.
.
Image

.
.

and i continued on my storm quest.......

just before the turn off i had to slow down for this jakkals-laaitjie who seemed lost and afraid....

.
.

Image
Image
.
.

on arrival at mlondozi the wind was pomping

so i put my camera on a tripod and started to take a hundred or so random shots of the south western horizon

in the hope of capturing a lightning strike...

.
.
Image
.
.
Image
.
.

the storm was getting closer

and the clouds more threatening

but it was an awesome sight....

Aaaah, yes, I remember that day well - no wonder it looked like a river was running through my tent by the time I got back! Very strange that there was no rain at CB ... just lions everywhere!!! (Don't tell Heksie though as she was angry with me that I got to see lions while all she did for 3 hours was stare at a rock on the S29!!!)

Hey Man those storm cloud pictures and the one with the lightening strike are just awesome. And that cheetah is mind blowing along with all the rest.
Oh yes the flag will be flying from the 18 Dec to the 30 Dec.
