Day 4

We took the S106 loop, then on to Satara.
Did the S100 to Nwanetsi .... not much there ... lots of dust from "big 5 hunters" speeding up and down to catch a glimpse of the cats...
Close to Nwanetsi, as we came over a low level bridge we saw the three Nyala. They were stunning! A young bull with the two females, hiding in the thick bush.

O, and before I forget... IT WAS HOT! 43 degrees Celsius at one stage...

Ellies with more young ones!

spraying mud, and then a shake of the head to get rid of all the excess!
(I just loved the floppy ears!)

Awesome Rhino pictures LarissaVW! Lots of Ellies too! Beautiful!

You were lucky that the Nyala's posed for you. They normally seek hiding as soon as possible when a car stops closeby!

Thanks all for your comments....
With the new school term came lots and lots of books to cover, and suddenly certain moms don't have time of their own any more! or time to post on one's TR...

I first spent an hour now looking at all the flood posts and pictures... I am awed and saddened at the same time! Peeps being airlifted out of Tamboti? I was just there! The rains started on our second last day there, and hasn't stopped apparently.

Well, at least all seems under control. Guests were evacuated ahead of time, roads closed as precautions... Kruger Management is taking no chances. WELL DONE to them!

But let me post a couple of :cam: again...

Day 5

We started early again, when the gates opened... and this morning we had more luck than the previous day!
See who came to greet us....(and to say happy Bday to me  )

(the light was very low, so I had to improvise a bit with the camera's brightness... still getting to know my camera, so the pics aren't the best... but at least I got them!)

Day 5 continued...

After the doggies, we took the S106 Rabalias gravel road/loop, and then on to S36 to Muzandzeni Picnic Spot.

Just before the Picnic site, we came across yet another young one....
and an old daggaboy!
pics to follow as soon as page turns...

We visited the dam, where we saw the tiniest ellie so far!

From there, we went back with the S36 to the tar road, just to try and get to Orpen's swimming pool asap! The boys were starting to "overheat" in the back of the car! This was one of those days where the temp went up to 43/44 degrees Celsius...

We spent quite some time at the pool, and then went on a short afternoon drive. Not much in the line of sightings then...

all living creatures were hiding away from the heat I am sure!

That evening seemed to be the eve of visitors! We had none less than 5 different visitors in and around our tent that night......
