*** NEW Stories ***
Like my previous TR’s, this is not going to be a day to day TR, but a series of stories about animals and special situations based on our last trip from november 11th 2012 till december 9th 2012.

Story 14 –At a Distance -

Hi all,

Time flies and not just when you’re having fun….

This time no story about a specific animal or group of animals, but about Kruger NP

I was checking my photos of our last trip and decided to select these ones for this post.
It’s not really a story but an impression of some parts of Kruger NP with or without animals.

I named this post “At a Distance” since most pictures were taken at a distance… to combine landscape and animals in their habitat.

Not much narration but ..well…. have a look and see if you like it

Juts arrived in kruger and first sighting was…

-
Image
-

Near Olifants an impression of the river with a group of Hyppo

-
Image
-

Hyppo and Elephants….

-
Image
-

Lion pride in the Lower Sabie area…. Un-aware of us at more then 100 meter

-
Image
-

and the King ….

-
Image
-

Always worth to stop and see them playing

-
Image
-

Where are they looking at…. ?

-
Image
-

“chasing us for 5 km on a small road…”
But, at a distance he is great….

-
Image
-

Just liked this view…. Hope you too

-
Image
-

and another Giraffe painting

-
Image
-

Water, rocks and birds….

-
Image
-

Two of the Big 5 together…

-
Image
-

Driving from Olifants to Satara… dirt road… winding road …enjoying the landscape and then 3 Lions checking who was coming to visit them.

-
Image
-

The long-necks stealing the show again

-
Image
-

This is kruger …. This is Africa

-
Image
-

Another impression of kruger… enriched with an elephant bull

-
Image
-

Lovely view on the river…. Changing all the time… during the seasons

-
Image
-

One of my favorite places…. The Letaba riverbed…. One of the better places to search for and find Tuskers…. Could not resist to make this shot… it makes kruger so beautiful and special place to be

-
Image
-

Another dry riverbed in the north (north of Punda Maria) , sunrise and this lonely jackal

-
Image
-

I liked this one… just enjoying the area and the view when this Cheetah appeared and like us he was enjoying the view too…

-
Image
-

With this sunset including a nice elephant I would like to say… till next story

-
Image
-

End of this story

Next story ? The “making of” a Lion coalition in two parts

As much as I love close up of animals as much I love such distance shots where you also can see the landscape and trees -

Simply WoW, Aat, love the dust the ellie herd was raising or the mist in the picture of the ellie boy coming closer and for sure these view around Olifants / Letaba - Sigh

Aat, you have an eye for beauty, pattern, and appreciation. Magnificent series of photos that do exactly what you set them out to do: show wild Africa, and especially wild South Africa, as it was before the humans arrived. I can entirely relate to the value you bring with your stories underpinning superb photographic events. I always love being absorbed for aeons in that wonderful world of nature, and I often forget where I am and what sounds are around me when I settle into your glorious TRs. Thank you for these enrichments; they always restimulate me to make our next booking.
