Thanx anne-marie and Katy!

There was a carcass of a big Eland nearby. The vultures were waiting their turn.

Image

I think this sighting was the most vultures that we had ever seen together in the Kgalagadi. Vultures were camped out under every nearby tree. I think this one is a Cape vulture, although it does not seem to have a yellow eye.(I f anybody can help here please  )

Image

We went onto Kij Kij and found another Eland belly-up.

Image

A lone jackal was on guard some distance away. There were zero vultures around, all were a few kms down the road. :hmz:

We turned around and headed back to TR. When we passed the dead Eland near Rooiputs, the vultures had taken over.

Image

We eventually left the vultures. I jokingly asked Mark to speed up a bit as I did not want us to miss the cheetahs at Samevloeiing.

Near Leeudril, the lion pair were up and otherwise occupied!

Image

Image

Belly-up Eland, mating lions - it was starting to play out exactly like our first day.

We reached Samevloeiing with some minutes to spare and enjoyed this huge Eland bull drinking at the waterhole.

Image

And then....

No sooner had he disappeared along the old Auob track, when these popped out of the brush.

Image

3 cheetahs! A great sighting but the light was fading fast.

Image

2 cheetahs finished drinking and settled down to wait for their mate, under a pink sky. Bliss!

Image

Image

The 3rd cheetah eventually made her way to the pair, and the 3 strolled off after the distant springbok herd.

We HAD to leave.

Goodbye Kgalagadi!

Thank you for sharing your lovely trip with us via this beautiful trip report wanderw! :D

You had some awesome sightings on your way out! Apart from the poor dead Eland, the Vultures made up for the sighting. Great mating Lion sighting too! And to end your day, a stunning Cheetah sighting, with an unforgettable sunset!

Thanks for another wonderful and amazing trip you shared with us, Wanda :k

Urikaruus would also have been a dilemma for me to stay or to drive - What incredible good sightings you had there

Hopefully your next trip will not be that much far in the future

Again, adding my thanks to those of wanderw for all the replies. And, some last pics from the final days of a very eventful trip.

Of course, must include a final lion, shared with lionspoon.

Another of a wild cat (never seen so many on one trip).

Mark and Wanda - thank you so much for sharing your trip with us.
Particularly special to me as our times overlapped quite a bit and
reading here is almost like sighting chats on the road. (Although
the latter is much nicer!)

You definitely had a marvelous time in KTP as well.

Now I just hope to add more big grins to my face with cheetah
sightings on our next trip.

:gflower: Thanks heaps! :gflower:
