We always have a dilemma at Urikaruus - to stay in and see what comes to the waterhole, or to go out. We chose to go out... but did not get very far at all!

Charlie was out of the den with 2 cubs.

This was one of my favourite sightings this time.

Ooh Ma! I promise I DID clean my ears!

A few other creatures seen...

Image

2 of the 3 lions from the night before.

Image

Another Swallowtailed Bee-eater - one of my favourite birds!

Image

A lovely sighting of a slender mongoose.

Image

And a small herd of Kudu at 14th borehole.

Image

Another Urkaruus resident - I loved the colours of this Agama.

Image

And one of many AWCs seen, near 13th borehole. This was a bumper year for them.

Leopards!!! We had a VERY frustrating glimpse of a leopard’s head near the northern entrance to the 14th borehole loop. :wall: However, on our 2nd night at Urikaruus, the lions had disappeared and a gorgeous leopard paid us a visit around midnight. We had eland herds coming to visit the waterhole throughout the night. Strangely no jackals announced her visit. Mark came to call me and said there was something strange at the waterhole. In the excitement we could not find the video camera, but Mark handled the spotlight and I had the binocs. It was Tsamma, the young female(grown-up cub of Barolong)! She finished drinking and confidently walked nearer to the units. My heart was thumping madly. Suddenly a big eland herd came in to drink and Tsamma took off like a bat out of hell. Later, when things were quiet again, Mark looked out at the waterhole, and she was back. She drank for a few seconds and disappeared into the night.

I love those Foxies Wanderw! They are absolutely beautiful! Awesome Lion sighting too! And the Bee-eater is everybody's dream!

Love the Slender Mongoose, and the Kudus with the Ostrich is such a great image! Beautiful!

The Agama does have beautiful colours, and another great shot of the AWC! :D

Pity that you couldn't find the video camera in time for Tsamma! :( But the sighting will be engraved in your memories forever!

I do not know any KTP visitors who have more great luck than Wanderw & family.

I think you should become a tour guide and charge megabucks to share your luck!
