Finally catching up with your adventures again. Love your gamboling fluffballs and those jackal pups, you really had some stellar sightings! (I'm hoping my waxbill and birdbath pix are a good as yours!)

And a few more spot shots. A mirror image.

Stretch them toes.

The imperial stare.

Hey guys, haven't you noticed the springbok yet?
Image

Unfortunately(?), they were only briefly interested in the springbok, two crouched down, dug in the toes ready to go, but then suddenly stood up and one went to water the tree and the other yawned and and rolled over. In any event, it was a great sighting as the cheetah were really close and very relaxed.

Again, many thanks for all the positive comments.

Heading south the next morning, just round the corner from Kannaguass we stopped a car in the road and asked if they had seen anything…nothing was the reply. As we approached the waterhole it seemed deserted, except for a lone jackal and some wildies in the distance. As usual, we stopped to look around more carefully. I did not see anything and was just about to drive off when wanderw spotted a pair of ears in the grass on the far side of the waterhole....

Image
The brownie was very hesitant to approach the waterhole, and we were wondering why, when wanderw looked on the other side of the road…..
Image

No wonder the brownie was waiting. The lion stretched, gave a last scratch and walked off into the distance.
Image

The brownie then came out of hiding, walked around the tree to make sure the lion was gone, walked to the waterhole, took a sip, then walked to the tree again. We thought the brownie was going to disappear, but, to our delight, it turned and came back to the waterhole. There it took a long drink, posing for the cameras and giving us the best brownie sighting we had ever experienced.

Its all about being in the right place at the right time. Five minutes either way and we would have missed the sighting.
