Wonderful to hear that you and your Mum will be going back to Kruger in 2 weeks time.

Lovely photos in this latest instalment. That Bateleur doesn't look too happy at all, shame.

An hour and a half to upload 9 photos? You certainly have more patience than I, but I'm glad you do. I especially love the ellie with the big ears. The zebras have probably come to the conclusion that if they wait a bit, a shower will come to them.

So many dung beetles, maybe they like the wet conditions.....or they hit the jackpot

It's nice to hear that even though you had a lot of rain, your mom enjoyed herself and wants to go back. If you get 3 nice clear days, she may want to spend all of your holidays in Kruger

We really didn't have much luck with the weather, Barry It was SO cold as well and we weren't really prepared for that either!!! Like you said though, lots of awesome sightings along the way! More coming up tonight ...

Hi Linda! It's good to be back and feed my SanParks addiction once again ... I was having serious withdrawal symptoms! Nice to "see" you! You are right, that bateleur didn't look too happy at all! It's a great photo to demonstrate just how wet it was! More coming up tonight!

Hi Timbits! Thanks for your comments. Yes, I was ready to throw my laptop out of the window the other night but think I had a lousy internet connection at the time ... we have been getting serious heavy storms in the evenings and maybe tht had something to do with it ... Anyway, ALL my photos for this TR and now uploaded and I hope to have this one finished by the time Mum and I go back on Saturday!

Hilda said the same about the dirty zebbies! I can assure you they didn't have to wait long for their next shower!

It was bizarre seeing all those dung beetles that day ... especially as there hadn't been any about at all the two days previously ...

Sorry, sorry, sorry ... I promised an episode on Monday night but forgot I was dog-sitting ... actually it was puppy-sitting and the little thing was totally hyperactive and NOT happy unless I was giving her 100% attention!

We turned on to the S130 Gomondwane Loop and had an ellie roadblock for quite some time.



He was a big boy and had a broken tusk …









A slender mongoose popped out of the bush to see what the roadblock was all about …



a wartie came on to the road to have a drink



and Mr Elephant finally decided to give way and let us pass. A quick stop at Ntandanyathi where, despite all the rain, it was fairly dry …



A brown headed parrot was surveying the scene …

Ahhhh. You are surely the greatest admirer of Tiny in the world! It is difficult to find another reason why you constantly bump into him in Kruger

Your October pics seem a lot like mine - wet! Yohhhh it rained plenty! I must say, not my favorite time of year to be in Kruger. It seems all the animals were intent on coming on to the road for you at Gomondwane Very difficult to see animals otherwise on that road through the dense vegetation!

That was really a huge ellie .
Love the wartie on his knees, drinking some rain water .
The brown-headed parrot is one of my favourite birdies in Kruger .

CHEETAH!!!!! Howzit? about your comment re Tiny! Actually, I must tell you something funny ... the very 1st time I met him in 2010 in Satara and he got his camera out and took a pic of me in my Atos I thought "OMG - a stalker!!!" and I'm wondering now who is stalking who???!!! Yes, it was very wet in October and I'm hoping that when Mum and I set off on Saturday for 3 nights at Lower Sabie we will have better weather. My first camping trip in 2010 was October and it only rained (very slightly) one night - I was SO lucky as had it rained the entire time, I would never be the Confirmed Kruger Camper that I am now!!!

He was a HUGE ellie, Hilda - Mum was quite nervous but he was very peaceful, just chomping away at the bushes and not really paying us much attention at all! I am finished puppy sitting now - it was only 2 nights (thank goodness, I am not cut out for looking after puppies!); I'm not sure what kind of puppy she was - a bit of a mix of everything but obviously from two very hyperactive parents!
