Hi LS! :yaya:

Just catching up on your TR - really enjoying it so far.

I was most taken with one of the first lion pictures... amazing lighting, they look incredible.

The baby Jackal is so cute!!! I don't think I've ever seen a picture of one before (I certainly haven't seen one in real life!)

The red landscape reminds me of central Australia - amazing colours.

Looking forward to hearing more!

Gorgeous lion pix and the birds, and the baby jackal and the AWC!   It was great meeting you and Spots, and I am so pleased that you had a great sighting of an AWC. My SO and I were still coming to terms with our GPS(don't laugh) when we saw you, so I think you not finding the AWC had nothing to do with your supposed inabilities, but all to do with a km blaps on our part.
On board!

I am not used to seeing the scenery so dry/thin/sparse...especially at KK :hmz:
It was the first time for us as well to see the Kalahari like this. But it was certainly a great sight. Well, it always is when you are in KTP.

I like that pic as well as it seems so out of place when you looked into the barren riverbed. But even that was beautiful. 8)

Stunning picture of the Bee-eater. They seldom pose so diligintly, and your LBJ is really cute.

Ja, the colours never fail to entertain me in KTP. I love them so much. Are you still planning to go soon?

I know some people who don't like KK because they never had anything special there. Neither did we. But the landscape certainly makes up for it. It really is beautiful. And relaxing.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend driving there. :hmz: But I certainly recommend going there. Ah, you know that anyway.

Day 3
23/10/2012 Kieliekrankie to Grootkolk

As we were headed north to Grootkolk we were on the southern dune road again and hence stopped by the jackal den once more. This time they allowed me some clearer shots which made me one happy gal

Otherwise this day should turn out to be one of those “nothing for ages spiced with a sudden exciting sighting”. Well, we would have to wait for that. For a looong time...

After having checked in for GK at Nossob and the always needed toilet break we exited north. And then at Cubitje Quap – bang! – I couldn’t believe my eyes  A lappet-faced and a white-backed vulture as well as a young bateleur and at least 5 secretaries. Apart from the lappet-faced being another first for me, I like my bateleur and my secretaries. So here was a happy gal once more.

Hi Lionspoon and Spots of course.
It was great bumping into you guys all over the park.

You are so right there were some crazy people there at the time.
Maybe it was the heat.

None more so than Steve, the Pom from Oz, who seemed to be very happy spending three months alone in his tiny one man tent and even tinier car, surrounded by what looked like very expensive camera and computer equipment.

Thanks for bringing back the memories in your great TR.

Hi there Lionspoon & Spots :gflower:

Just caught up with your TR, mind if I come along for the ride? AMAZING :cam: I'm glad those jackal pups made another appearance for you. Great shots! They only gave us the one chance :wall:

Thanks for the kind words in your intro, but I'll let you in on a secret...KTP is doing us the favour by allowing us to be part of the program and definately not the other way around!! Isn't it amazing how instant the connection is when chatting with people you meet that share the same interests! Would do anything to have an impromptu mini-meet somewhere in KTP right now

It seems as if everybody that was in KTP at that time, had a lot of firsts. I know we certainly did

Ready for the next installment

Carine
