At Rooikop Spots saw a bird earlier than I did (a rare occasion). It was a black headed heron who kept marching away from the lens I had pointed at him. Grrr! :evil:

Eventually I got hold of him…

… and he even made a kill! Poor scaly-feathered finch…

The heron even dipped the finch into the water :shock:

to make it easier to swallow…

And gone was the finch…

But then again, I had gotten something more exciting than lions. (I can’t believe I just said that… :slap:

)

The highlight of our afternoon drive marked the jackal pups at a den 15.7 k’s up the road from Nossob.

And the worn-out mum

Poor Finch! At least it didn't suffer for too long, with a happy Heron as a result! :doh:

That was not an everyday sighting Lionspoon! Very well captured! :clap:

I can see why the mommy Jackal is so worn out .... just look at that cute, curious little face of the baby! He is keeping her busy, that's for sure! :lol:

Oooh - the Lionspoon is getting spoilt by all the lion sightings I see...

Love your shots of the BWB at Nossob Hide in the early morning! :clap:

And a kill! :shock:

I actually never thought that a heron would eat a birdie... But coming to think of it - the Black Headed Heron is not a water-bound heron - so I guess it doesn't live on fish like some of the others... :slap:

Poor finch...

Also love the jackal pups - just like hyenas - so cute while they are little!

I loved your photos of the wildies at Nossob waterhole :clap:

I could very well have been watching them on the cams at the same time!

Also I am loving all the lions you saw :clap:

Although I can understand you would also like to see some different animals too :wink:

Gorgeous little jackal pup was obviously keeping poor tired jackal mum very busy!! :lol:
