And the new growth on the Protea bushes almost looked like flowers

On our way down the mountain we saw that the elephants in the meantime have crossed the road into the valley

They were out in the open now - we counted 29 elephants

We eventually had to leave the ellies and could not believe our eyes when just a few kilometers on we found another herd! They were in thick bush so no pics. Counting them was almost impossibel but there were between 25 and 30 elephants, also some babies!

We also found some zebras

We decided to also drive the gravel road but sightings were few - large parts of the veld along the road were burnt.

Only a few Zebra and Blue Wildebeest - the Eland and Mountain Reedbuck that we found along this road on previous visits were nowhere to be seen.

From the lookout point we again spotted a group of three elephants on their way to the dam!
