Thank you Barryels and Philip1 - my pleasure!

That is the beauty of visiting the smaller Parks like Marakele and Mapungubwe (for us at least) - one gets excited about every animal you see, even the Rooibokkies (Impala)!

We did not stay too long with the Ellies - had to get up the mountain preferably before the road gets too busy. Spotted two of my favourite little bokkies on the way up

They did not want to pose though. :(

Fortunately we encountered only one car on the way up. For anyone with a fear of heights this road will definitely be a challenge but the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.

When we arrived at Lenong Viewpoint there were four other vehicles but they soon left and we had the place all to ourselves

A photograph cannot really do justice to the scenery but you can get an idea

Every time we visit Lenong Wiewpoint I wish we could have stayed longer - I am working on a weeklong visit to Marakele and then I want to spend an entire morning on the mountain!
We walked to the edge to look for the Verreaux's Eagles which we saw on our previous visit but no luck. The vultures were also missing - only a couple of them were flying far off to the left. But it was still awesome just to be there and experience the silence and the endless vistas.

Back at our vehicle we did a bit of birding - the birds are really tame and almost under your feet!

Trrp-trrrrr, Bushbuddies, picnic and Hilda  Marakele is a great place for birding!

The previous night was really cold so the Dassies were all out sunbathing!

Hilda, Pumbaa and Crested Val

During the weekend I searched high and low for a flower to add to the Marakele Flowers thread. On the mountain I found one at last
