As you can see here we got to join these two magnificent beasts as they arose and started their morning stroll down the road.

We slowly followed the one in front while the other one meandered along behind, how special was that :D :D :D

Can you just imagine what we were like jumping around in the car with excitement, slowly driving the car carefully in the middle while trying to keep an eye on both of them.
We hit a new level of multitasking trying to take decent photos, operate the video, control the car and steering wheel, and of course try to keep hands steady and not shake from the thrill.

Hi Rob & Vic, it was great meeting you at Olifants! I'm only just now beginning to catch up with trip reports (I only returned home at the end of June), looking forward to yours!

Don't know whether someone else has IDed this owl for you, but a whitefaced scops owl is TINY. This one is a giant eagle owl — and a lovely sighting and photo indeed 8)

And I think that your 'far off eagle' is an immature brown snake eagle.

[Eish, what's happened to the delete button?!? I wanted to merge this into my previous post, but I can't?!? :wall: ]

Then noticed some cute little ones, we could see them but unfortunately it was hard to get a shot.

This girl crossed the road right in front of us while we were looking at the owls, looks like more babies coming up

And as we approached Satara camp we saw something a bit odd sticking up out of the tar road on the bridge in the distance.
Once we got close it moved down, and then we could see it was this funny little guy. By time I got the camera ready he had gone back down but we still thought it was pretty funny

Well after the morning excitement we were feeling very satisfied with ourselves and decided to hang around camp for a while and cook a braii for lunch.
Once again we had a lovely time at the Satara camp waterhole, but this time instead of giraffes and zebra we were visited by an ele, a few wildebeest and lots of impala.

That afternoon we naturally could not resist another drive, so off to Nsemani to check out the regulars :)

Then decided to do a loop down the S40 and return via the S39.

Well I am sure you will all be very familiar with the Girivana waterhole but we have never had the time to travel this road before and were absolutely thrilled to come across it. As we pulled up we could see large group of zebras and giraffes drinking, then an elephant wandered in to have a drink at the back tank followed by a splash in a nearby mudpool.

We just sat here for ages just taking in this beautiful sight, with all three animals together it was like an African picture postcard, a beautiful reminder of just where we were. :D :D
