To put photos into Trip Reports they first need to be loaded onto an online hosting site.

Two of the most popular ones are Photobucket and Flickr. Both are free and easy to use*.

The following 2 posts contain basic tutorials on how to load and link to these sites.

We hope you find them helpful. If you have any queries or comments please let us know. If you have problems with loading or posting photos, please ask saraf or any of the Moderators and we will try our best to help out.

*Please note the free accounts mean you will get adverts on your pages. While using Photobucket to create the tutorial I came across some distasteful adverts.

How to...Host your photos on http://www.photobucket.com

1. First thing you have to do is Register on their website. It's free and easy, all you need is a username, a password and an email address. Choose the free option for 2GB of storage, which should be enough for 1000 photos.

Image

2. Start the upload process by clicking on the Upload link on the menu.

Image

3. Select the file(s) you want to upload by clicking the Browse Files button. This displays a dialogue box which allows you to select the photos from your PC. Once you have selected your photo(s) click the Open button to continue.

Image

4. The forum has a maximum size for photos of 800x600. Photobucket doesn't offer a selection of sizes like Flickr but it does offer photo editing functionality. Just click the Edit button from the menu, select the photo from the dialogue box.

Image

4a. Then select Resize from the Edit menu

Image

4b. Enter the dimensions you want the photo to be (please note maximum allowed on the forum is 800x600).

Image

5. When all your photos have been loaded click on one of them and you will see a menu called Image Links on the right hand side of your screen. Click on the IMG code and it will copy the picture for you.

Image

5. The final step is to go to your Trip Report (or any other post), and 'paste' the picture in your text.

And you should now have a photo in your TR.

How to.. Host your photos using http://www.flickr.com/

1. First thing you have to do is Register on their website, it's free. You will need a Yahoo account but don't worry if you haven't got one, they are easy to create. Or you can link your Google or Facebook accounts to a new or existing Yahoo id. With a free account you get can upload a total of 200 photos. You get an "upload allowance" of 300mb of photos and 2 videos per calendar month.

2. Next upload your photos onto Flickr. The Upload button can be found on the top of the page on the right of the menu.
