Hi Jan
The name of your dragonfly is Red Basker ([i]Urothemis assignata[i])
The position of holding its abdomen up like that is called "obelisking" and this is done to control the body temperature. Early in the morning they will obelisk in such a way that the abdomen can capture the heat from the sun while at midday the point of the abdomen points at the sun to prevent the heat being absorbed by the abdomen.

Absolutely amazing pic of the dragonfly :clap: :clap: . I know they are hard to get because I tried at LP and also often in the UK summer. :roll:

Thank you DASSIEDELIGHT for the comment :dance: ...when it is quiet at LP we try to concentrate and the beautiful butterflies with some success with the zoom lenses....

Elephants on the other hide of the hide...was hoping they will have a bath :wall:

Almost photograph my first kill at LP......camera was ready.........thought today is the day...

The young Heron misjudge his flying skills back to the nest and land in the water.....
