Day 6 Part 4B - The Cat Fight:

So the Elephant chases the four Cheetah out of the riverbed and they settled down on the bank in the grass. All of a sudden we hear these snarls and see a whir of motion. Martin explains that this group contains three males and a female and the males are fighting over the female. The ratio was similar to that at my boarding school so I could certainly relate......

The fight started out on the bank of the river

And it ended up back in the riverbed itself.

Any guesses on who won??????

More to follow

Trrp-Trrrrrr,

Thank you very much. Everybody was stunned. We tried explaining to the newcomers that they were extremely fortunate with the sightings. Hopefully they understood. We were so blessed almost every day though that I think they believe that's how safaris are.

On top of the great sightings, we had awesome behavioral stuff as well. I don't ever remember seeing all of the interaction that we saw on this trip. And wait, it continued to get better as the trip progressed.

The Cat Fight - Continued:

So they rolled down the hill and it continued.....

Eventually, the female decided that none were worthy and sauntered off leaving the males to sulk on their own in the riverbed.

We just couldn't believe what luck we were having.

I took hundreds of pictures and while they didn't turn out perfect, I'm still happy with the overall results.

Day 7 had some more special treats so stay tuned for more.

Thanks Barry. It really was awesome. Martin explained it was a once in a lifetime sighting. I certainly won't argue with that.

Hi Daron,
Please pass the "good luck" charm onto me.
Do you know what lucky guys you were?
This is what the professionals on National Geographic see.
I am so pleased that Kruger shared this with you and pray that one day I may be half as lucky.
The definition and focus on the baboon and cheetahs is super.
Well done and do keep them rolling.
And to think you were almost going to stop posting for us.
Thank you, thank you!
Regards,
Ad Rem.

Thank you Hilda! I am very much a self-taught amateur when it comes to taking pictures. But, I have acquired some very nice equipment that makes getting good shots a little easier. Of course, of the thousands of pictures I took, you are getting to see the good ones. Trust me, there were a lot that were deleted and a bunch more that I kept, but wouldn't bother sharing....

Ad Rem,

I borrowed the good luck charms from Barry and Hilda. I asked if I could have some of their lucky packets and look what we saw.....

I agree that we had some once in a lifetime sightings this time around. And there are more to come.

Thanks for following!

Daron
