I fell behind very badly, but I am back on track and just in time for your last day

What a wonderful sighting - and so many of the doggies This is so typical of Kruger to make us wait and then deliver when we started to think we will miss some of the things on our wishlist

"WILDLY" exciting sighting, Mel!!

I'd happily look at more photos!

Wow Mel - I've been missing out on quite a bit here... Just like vlakvarkvrou - I manage to fall behind quite a bit here...

Love the wild dog shots - they are such special animals to see - I'm so glad you saw them! And a good sighting at that!

Big five in one day - that remains special. Even if you've been to the park a few times, it remains special!

Glad you finally got to see the Orpen Cam... Orpen is the one main camp that SO and I still have not stayed in before - it looks lovely - we should make a plan!

Oh you lucky monkeys seeing those lovely doggies!!!
We haven't seen any since 2002, so on a real mission for our next trip!!

I sat all comfy with Amarula in a glass of ice for this episode
And then what happens? I get all excited as you see your first doggies in the Kruger ever
What a lekker sighting you guys had on your last full day here And the day has only started so there can be more surprizes awaiting you guys
Sitting in suspense waiting for the next episode

And thank you tedredrum, Lionspoon, chirinda, Pumbaa, ruthp, barryels, Trrp-trrrrrrrr, saraf, flying cheetah, Vlakvarkvrou, haileyidaho, hilda, Bushbuddies, vinkie, Crested Val, Heksie and Meandering Mouse for all your enthusiastic comments

We met a lady at Orpen later that afternoon who had been to Kruger 12 years in a row and she had still not seen wild dogs

Dad and I knew just how lucky we had been

But there were still plenty of hours left in our last full day so on we go....

Orpen and surrounds continued....

Once Dad and I had regained our composure (and the ability to drive again) we continued on down the tar road.

Not far past our wild dog sighting we saw a lone hyena


Followed by a duiker that actually stayed still long enough for a photo!!


Next up was a baboon roadblock


The sleepy baby baboons clinging to their mums were very cute



The stream of different animals just kept coming
And it was still only 7.30 in the morning!!

Vultures waiting to get warm in the sun


And then a slender mongoose!
We had seen one before but never managed to get a photo


Next a shy steenbok hiding in the bush


The kudu look so lovely in the morning light


Then we had a guinea fowl roadblock


Followed by a buff block


This buff was enjoying brekky


Dad and I still hadn't made it to Satara for our breakfast so this sight made us even hungrier

Gosh, you're lucky indeed, Melph - the wild dogs we've been seeking for the last dozen trips to that area! Some good front-on action shots too. After that, you feel as if your trip has been made and, I know the feeling, it's hard to think of much else. However, the "regular" game is still pretty entertaining.

What a morning! It was starting out goooood! I can watch baboons for hours. Apparently the "phase" when the young boons ride on their mom's back like that is called the "jockey phase"... Can see where that comes from!

And the other sightings are just fantastic for a final morning drive

Mel you guys really had great sighting with a wide variety of animals and it is not even breakfast time.
