Dad and I saw more steenboks in our 2 days in the Karoo than we did over 12 days in Kruger!

A lizard lovers paradise!

About an hour into the drive we came to a stretch of road where it seemed every rock had a lizard on it!



I was in herpetologist heaven!!



And my Daddy was ever so patient, stopping at every rock

The female agamas are quite drab in comparison to the males in their breeding colours.


This male was putting on a fine show to impress the lady
After many attempts, I finally managed to get a little video of his “come hither” moves.



My goodness!!
A male agama’s charms had certainly worked on this heavily pregnant female!


Ooh and a little baby agama – very cute!

Great shots of the Agama's...sunbathing on the rocks. ...they always look so prehistoric to me ..amazing how they get a grip and scurry around on the rock surfaces.

Had to do a lot of catching up on this TR .

I can see that you and dad had a great time in the Karoo NP with lots of stunning sightings to share .

Love all the lizards you shared with us. They are really special .

Bokmakieries are beautiful birds - we used to have them in Joburg but they seem to not be around any more.

Just lovely seeing the your 3 first ever Springbok I saw my first ever in a park in 2012 as well
And the baby sandgrouse are very cute!
YOu didn't see a steenbok in KNP? It can't be!

Lovely Agama action there! It is a year ago already! Well, Melphie - if I was you, I'd drag this TR on untill closer to your next visit. It keeps the memories fresh, and I'm sure they're all wonderful memories!

I'm going away for 2 weeks on a holiday with my mum, so I really have to finish the Karoo chapter of our trip today!!
