A few months ago I posted a TT at this forum. But due to lack of time it wasn't possible for me to post the whole trip I made in 2009 in KNP.
Nevertheless, in okt 2010 we (my dad, brother and his son) went to KNP again and slept in Sable Hide on 22okt. In the following morning we had the best sighting of the whole trip. And it was just third day.
When we woke up my brother shouted that there were hyena's at the dam. But at my surprise there were 7 wild dogs wandering around the dam and came to drink. So after half an hour they went into the bush and disappeared, we thought... But after a while they came back and were dragging a impala over the dam. A great sighting just in front of us. Well, these are the pics I could make, hope you'll enjoy them.

  FANATSTIC Sighting and wonderful photos - thanks for sharing

Love the portrait of the single doggie the most :D

Am I seeing things or does the dog on the left have an Impala "foetus" in it's mouth? :hmz:

@Jungle Junkie, I didn't notice it first, but you're right. It's definitely a unborn impala. Life is hard in the bush, no exeptions.
Thanks all for responding!!!

Day 1 - 21 okt 2010

Arriving late at PB-gate due to problems with the car-rental in J'burg, we had to hurry our way into Krüger. It was 17.00pm and I think the last visitors letting in the park.
Always an exciting feeling when you pass the gate and can share the enthousiasm with your dad, brother and nephew of 11yr.

The first animals we saw were of course the impala's, but after 15km or so my brother shouted Lion!. And yes, severel lions we walking through the bushes in the afternoon sunlight. Great sighting to begin with  Because we had to make it before gate close at Letaba we only spent a few minutes with the lions.

Furtheron we saw ellies and lots of buffalo's, but no photo taken due lack of time.
So the real game-drives started next morning.

Day 2 - 22 okt 2010 At 5.30 we left Letaba rc to take H1-6, S47 to Mingerhout Dam, S131 and then breakfast.

Here some photos of this drive:

My first photo in Krüger I took on the second day when we drove to Mingerhout Dam.

Day 2 - 22 okt 2010 morning drive to Mingerhoutdam S47/S131.

A beautifull sunrise gave a warm light on the animals. At Mingerhout we saw crocs and hippo's. After some miles on the S47 from MD we encountered a herd of elephants. It's always worth while to spend some time with them.

Hi all, nice to hear you like the TR and pics.

Day 2 - 22 okt mid morning drive.

After BF we decided to drive to Engelhard Dam. From my previous trip I knew there's always some activity. And also this time we weren't disappointed. As it was really hot, 35gr C and the light was very hard for photographing. We saw hippo's, elephants, buffalo's, waterbuck and large crocks .
Very relaxing to watch them from the hide.
At the high level bridge over Letaba river we saw impala's wandering to the water to drink. It looks like they walk in a dessert.

Day 2 - 22 okt 2010 evening drive to Sable Dam
Day 3 - 23 okt 2010 morning from Sable Hide

In the evening we went to Phalaborwa gate tot get our bedding. With two large bags with sheets and pillows we drove to the Sable Hide and installed us. Really great experience to be there on your own in the bush. Before it got dark I lightened the braai and in the meantime we tried to spot animals around the hide. With a strong torchlamp we searched the area and sometimes 2 lights luminates from the dark. So we guessed what animals it could be, and in the beginning we thought to see antilopes, but after some wines we even saw leopards and lions   The only ones who were missing were the wild dogs I joked. And then there was the next morning.
My brother shouted that a group of hyenas came drinking by the dam, but it turned out to be my greatest sighting in the 3 times I visited KNP. 7 wild dogs came drinking and hunting that morning and it all happened in front of us.
After an hour the first tourists arrived, a family with young children and there grandparents. And guess what, "not much happening here" the man said, while the doggies were tearing the impala to peaces. So after 5 minutes they left and missed a great spectacle
I cannot believe what such people have to search in Krüger.
