Meanering mouse: It certainly is. Everyone went off early to pack. On our way to Lower Sabie tomorrow. Want to leave by 7am.

15th Nov:
Early get up the temp has changed from 37deg to expected 18deg today. feels soo cold. Mum & dad came over for coffee before we left. Told the kids would meet up at Tskwone tea garden for breakfast about 10. We wanted to see what remained of the lion kill. We couldn't get near but spotted the male
Image

Then back onto the main road to Skukuza
Image
Image
Image

Stopped off at the Boabab tree

Then finally caught up with Ray at this most fantastic sighting

Image
Image

She had two cubs and there was an Impala kill. Plenty of traffic. Ray & Laura had seen them better. Plenty to talk about at the tea garden

Thanks for your replys
Stopped off at the shop to buy meat etc for the braai. Very expensive but very good meat.
Back to the tent for braai. Sudden shouts from no 16, Baboons on the rampage. 3 large lads couldn't stop the baboon taking Ray's camera bag off the table and jumped over the fence. Really scared everyone. The ranger came and returned everything. His Ipod and camera lenses were ok.

Mouth watering braai, all eight of us on one balcony. home made potato salad, beetroot salad, pap, tomato & onion sauce. pasta bread rolls and drinks. Super evening. Retired to tents at 9pm. Booked sundown drive tomorrow, but it's cold a really chilly wind blowing. All the exitement of the baboon raid relived.

What a day, they keep getting better
Woken by Baboon running through the camp making such a noise and trashing the bins
Image
The mongoose doing there thing
Image
We had breakfast together and went for a morning drive to Crocodile Bridge
via S28. So dry
Image
The water hole empty. Just before Croc bridge dad made a good sighting, thought it was kori bustard in the distance but
Image
Image
We sat and watched for a while the along came the 'slug' In it wa Martie from the blog
Image. She was happy to chat for a while really enjoying meeting everyone.
Had ice cream at Croc bridge. The new bridge has been washed away and the old one is under water so entry is at Malalane gate.

Back to camp by 2pm. Should have been having toasties on the braai but it was raining so we did them in frying pan on the electric ring. Went for a rest then met up for the evening drive with the kids and what a drive it turned out to be

Thanks for all your interest
It's cold, wet and windy as we head off for the sunset drive with Patrick. Blankets and coats over us, we are on our game vehicle just the 8 of us
on the small truck.
We just left camp and this was coming up the road
Image
Image
Patrick said he hadn't seen them since march. A little further on
Image
She had her cub there so beautiful. Patrick was so good at explaining everything and very funny
Then he took us to the lions. He woke them by calling like a zebra. The lions stirred and came to the road
Image
Image
It was magical to watch. They had been around for four days and had finished their kill. On the return journey we saw civet, african wild cat and marshall eagle. All rare sightings, arrived back to camp at 9pm. Although it had been so cold and wet the animals had done us proud. Went to the restaurent for hot drinks and back to the tents for a hot shower.

Thank you Patrick for such a fantastic evening never to be forgotten

It was fantastic to see the park change so fast. The rain was so desperatley needed. Our last morning arrived to fast and all the packing up was done. The sand roads were all closed so made our way via the S114 to Malalane. We had to get out of the vehicles to undo the chains to the main road to let all the cars out.
