Good to have you back on board EJ.

My oh my the ellies are naughty. Surely the marula season must be nearly finished.
I keep imagining what it would be like if we were staying in one of the chalets and they came through.

Don't work too hard.

Welcome back EJ! The damage doesn't sound too seriously, so glad for you!

Good to have you back - you have been missed! About the bent tent pole - take it to a plumber, they have a thingy like a spring that they put inside a pole and can straighten it without breaking it - I think, since the pole will likely be made of aluminium. Good luck.

Main problem is to get the pole out and then back again......It is the one that supports the roof at the front of the L-extension, so it is difficult to fit in the first place! Might actually be easier to get a replacement and slide it in while breaking the original to get it out........

Hi EJ
Great to have you back in the fold
Hope you get that pole sorted out without too many problems.
I am sure you had a good holiday and looking forward to your Kruger posts once you get back into the routine

Hmm. In that case you may be right about getting a replacement. There might be an easy way, speak to the guys at the caravan outlet in Nelspruit before you make a decision. Caravan-owning "mites" do you have some advice??? Looking forward to your reports when you are settled.

Arrived in Skukuza shortly after 9am yesterday to get sorted for the course starting at 11am. Had a problem almost immediately......after seeing some folk at one of the offices my car would not start! Folk helped me, and eventually got to Vuswa where they repaired some wiring for me. In the end I was just a few minutes late getting to the meeting venue rather than being early and set up before folk arrived. Also had not done some of the prior arrangements I had wanted to do.

All was OK though, and my 'boss' arrived a little later and while I did the registration and welcoming and got the first speakers started, she went and did the other bits instead.

As usual lots of information! Some hot of the press from meetings in the past couple of days! So good to have these courses right on the doorstep of the experts like this.

I am staying in the Research Camp. Arriving yesterday evening I was told a big male leopard had just been around the fence area next to my hut. Could still hear the monkeys making a big noise, but no sign of the cat anymore.

Overnight heard hippos, hyenas, and this morning a white-browed robin chat calling loudly.

Lectures start again 7.30am so I need to be ready shortly after 7am to drive to the auditorium and get set up. Doing 2 lectures myself today.

Glad your car could be fixed EJ! Things never work out the way we plan it!

Good luck with your lectures today!

All gone well today. Just time after finishing lectures to come back to hut and shower, change, and sort out things for the braai tonight. Now back in the hut and ready for bed after some hot choccie, even though it is hot outside.
The wind started to get up while we were eating, and there is lightning around, so we may be in for a storm. Rain has been predicted (depending on which forecast you read, that is!).

Hi Ecojunkie

You have recently posted a "recipe" for a mosquito spray mixture consisting of water, dettol and citronella oil. Can't remember the quantities though. Your help will be much appreciated.

Kind regards
Albie

I simply used 100ml dettol in a 1L spray bottle filled up with water and then added a few drops of citronella oil.

We had heavy rain and a storm last night. Still light rain falling this morning too.

Tuesday night we had torrential rain here. The caravan roof started to leak despite having a tarp over it......after only a few months the tarp has begun to perish. I have ordered a truck-type one and hope it will last longer, but have to wait for it to come. Meanwhile rigged up my gazebo cover and hope that will help.

The rain has caused local flooding, and you will have seen photos elsewhere.

Last night it rained again, but not as heavy.

Later today I will be heading for Skukuza again for Cricket weekend.

Excellent formula, EJ. @ At least, the mosquitoes will be sterile when biting. But, glad to make larger quantities to stretch the usage time.

Stay dry, and enjoy the cricket.
