Appreciate the comments and thank you to all.

'Sun-bather' grey heron sitting on their usual spot on top of the tree while the other 3 herons spending time in the shades on the river edge at the back of the hide.

This GK was perched on the tree, got him just as he took off.

This PK was bombing up the lake when I finally locked on.

and finally this image of a hippo that was too close for my 500mm

Thanks for the previous comments, don't know if I'll ever get back to Kruger, had 7 visits in last 6yrs and my SO is getting a little awkward about my suggesting we revisit when there's so much more in the world to visit.

Excellent angle, Jan.

They just do not sit still! On numerous occassions I directed the camera at them and just as I got the focus going, they fly away. This happened quite a few times which make you wonder if they are not doing it deliberately :hmz: and teasing you

I guess this dragonfly could be related...or could it be the same one...
Image

Then there was the other family - 'the blue dragonfly'-family

Gorgeous pictures of the Dragonfly Jan and Kaapsedraai!

I don't know how you managed to take pictures of them, I guess with great difficulty and lots of patience! :D

Great image Kaapsedraai   and I think we spotted the same one!!!

We always saw the Crocs behind the trees, but this one decided to swim to the other side and then only you realize how big they are.(may be 4 meters?)

Thank you Hilda and Jan.

Agree, Jan - some of them are quite sizeable, but what amazes me is how some of the waterbirds get so close to them.

The only croc I could see was this one, but got excellent eye level sightings at Biyamiti Weir and Shipandani-hide causeway (2 of my other favourite spots).
Image

Hippos were also relatively quite, but got rewarded with a good one at Ntsemani dam, just outside Satara. I will post some photos on upcoming TR.

Query the size of crocs, this one came out a couple of years ago.

Then he just flopped down. He was quite impressive though
