Not quite Bannavdm.

The HR's is divided in to regions. Some of the regions have a connection with a specific park, purely because the region itself is physically based near that park. Examples would be Marakele and Addo regions. These regions often have wonderful working relations with that specific park, but they do not "own" that park.

However, the majority of regions are not connected to a specific park.

And, more importantly still. Any HR or HR region can help in any SANPark. This means that it is possible for an HR from say Johannesburg region, to do work in Kgalagadi or even Richtersveld as example. That HR must have the necessary training to work in that park, and will work with the structures set up for that park, whether that is the SANParks personnel there, or maybe another HR structure managed by the "local" HR region.

There are always practical issues, such as the distance of some parks such as Kgalagadi, from concentrations of human settlement. This has a definite influence on the amount of work that can be done by the HR's, versus say a park such as Table Mountain NP, which is situated inside a city!

But is does not mean that the HR's is not active in those parks, and do work to support those parks.

Wonderful! I can give you Bosvelder's contact details via PM if you wish and he can steer you to the Arid Park contacts.

I'm doing training for the arid parks this coming Saturday (I'm an applicant HR) which will enable me to assist in any of these parks once I'm apponted as an HR. Next time I'm up that way I will definitely volunteer my services.
