3) Ageratum sp. Either A. conyzoides (most likely) or A. houstonianum. Both are alien weeds from the Northern Hemisphere.

Very interesting that #3 is an alien, so I was right to be surprised to see it there. There was quite a lot of it in that spot along the S3, so I hope the plant police will be out there removing it. I may be sentimental about jacarandas in Pretoria, but absolutely agree that KNP should be kept free of alien invaders!

Also, just curious, but what are "the involucral bracts"?? :?
