Thanks for taking a stab at these, JB, and sorry to heard about your computer woes.
These pix (especially the first two) were taken more just because I liked the look of the tree than for ID, so I only posted them on the off-chance that they could be IDed. #2 is the tree next to tent #40 at Tamboti, on the other side of the fence, and it was just turning colour on 2 May 2006, which intrigued me, since "autumn colours" are rarer in SA than here in New England, where "leaf peeping" in autumn is a big tourist industry.
In KNP these autumn colours were more subtle, and less extensive, but I did enjoy being there for these quite different seasonal changes in the deciduous trees. What surprised me most was that some baobabs had dropped their leaves entirely, while others turned gold, and still others seemed to stay quite green into May
Just another example of how interesting
everything is in KNP. Each visit I try to learn just a little more about the trees and plants I'm seeing. Your help (as well as Imberbe's and restio's) is really making a difference in my "education"
