Here are a few more "mystery" plants that I saw in Augrabies in September 2007.

Number 2 is the flower (inflorescence) of the Common Reed. It is actually a grass, and is widespread. Plays an important role in preventing erosion in streams and rivers. Length can vary between 60 cm and 4 meters.
Imberbe = Combretum imberbe = Leadwood = Hardekool = The spirit of the Wildernis!

Thanks, Imberbe! I was noticing a lot of interesting grasses (and reeds  ) this trip. This particular one was part of those that grow at the low water crossing that you cross shortly after you enter the game area at Augrabies.

Anyone have any ideas about those pretty little blue/purple flowers?
