I saw a single one hanging onto the front (so to speak) of a small herd of tssessebe at Tihongonyeni last month. There was a herd of eland there too, not to mention zebra and blue wildebeest all over the place, and buffalo. I should also mention at least 70 Egyptian Geese in the pan (the number was probably at least double that), along with one White Pelican. Also Knob-billed Ducks galore, 47 Ostriches, three Pratincoles, and zillions of less uncommon birds, ranging from all sorts of eagles and vultures to Chestnut-backed Finchlarks. To top it all off the whole plain was covered with Bladder Hibiscus (
Hibiscus trionum, Terblansbossie) and a yellow flower I failed to identify.
