Am I correct to interpret "increase oxygen intake" as higher oxygen absorption ?

By that I read that should average absorption be for example 25% of oxygen content of inhaled air, that Oryx will actually absorb a higher % like 30% to 40% thereby enabling it to breath less breaths per minute and thus loose less water through lung evaporation.
