I think the idea is great to follow the Sable and Roan.
Richprins asked me for advice so how can I refuse ???
If there are two volunteers to gather the info and pics they need the following things:
Pictures with date and location of sighting and ... permission by the photographer to use the pictures for the described purposes.
Then the collected pictures should be categorized and ID marks defined. So you need good and clear pictures of the animals.
Next is to give names to the individual animals and setup pages for them like I am doing with the tuskers.
The pictures should be posted by date of sighting to get an overview per animal over time.
Most recent ones at top and older ones at the right place in this overview.
Always add Credits of photographer including date and location.
Both volunteers could start with posting this on Facebook ?? (open account with Sable_Kruger and Roan_Kruger) and add albums there ... could be a possibility maybe... or something on Flickr..
The volunteers should discuss /agree about naming convention
Difficulty with Roan and Sable is to get detailed pictures otherwise ID'ing is hard to do.

So lets start this...as mentioned to both Aat and RP...I dont think its going to be an easy task...so lets start with identifying the different herds of Sable and Roan in Kruger...I think that once we get that going we can then look at the individuals...but at least its a start...you can either post your pics on the Sable or Roan ID threads that I will start just now...or you can email them to me at
I will work throught the pics as they come in, but please keep the above from Aat in mind when you submit pics
Although I have a lot of spare time at work and can do this, Im hoping that an expert, which Im not, will come along and help out
