I have only seen Eland once in KNP, on (next to) Olifants road H8. Otherwise see some daily 1km from home.

Roan, saw a small herd on s36 couple of years ago and even more years ago a big herd on H10 between s29 and s129.

Sable, odd sightings at Pretoriuskop and up north.

Tssessebe almost always at Tihongonyeni water hole on the s143 (tropic of capricorn loop). Also on the HI-1 after seeing the big 5 from Skukuza to Pretoriuskop we saw a Tssessebe, no one else stopped. For me it was now the big 6 seen. Strange area to see one ?, just a couple of kms from PK.

Poorish pic as dark already.

Lichtenstein Hartebeest once many years ago.

Happy 'hunting' :cam: look forward to seeing the pics :cam:

Great pics Joekin. I've never seen sable in KNP, and i've been there allot.

Since 2006...
Rheedbok - 4 on H10, 2 near Kumana dam, 3 4km North of Satara, 1 at Nshawu no. 3.
Sharpe - 1 on Nyalaroad, 2 on Mahonie loop, 1 on Mphongolo loop, 1 on Red Rocks loop, 1 near Kanniedood dam, 2 on S47
Eland - +- 10 North of Babalala
Tsessebe - Many North of Mopani, 3 near P. Kop
Lichtensteine - None
Sable - None

If anyone have a photo of a REAL Suni in KNP can you please post it in this thread.

Thanks again for everyones contribution..

Lichtenstein's I've only seen once ever in the KNP, years ago. A single individual that had joined a herd of Impala on Napi Road near PK.

The Makuleke CNP (Pafuri) has good herds of (skittish) Eland, some sable, and the very occasional Roan visiting from Uncle Bob's utopia.

Eland generally in the north, but I've also seen large herds near and on Skipberg.

Suni are rumored to occur along the Luvuvhu, but I have never seen one, nor have any of the professional guides at Pafuri Camp.

There's a good herd of Sable in the Mutlumuvi concession (Rooigras Vlakte), and they are not uncommonly encountered in the Manzimhlope/Ripape/Vutomi area (and elsewhere, as mentioned by other posters)

Reedbuck are surprisingly plentiful along certain sections of the Mlondozi River (H10), but equally surprisingly hard to see. Also common in the sourveld around PK, most easily seen on night drives.

Hi there!
There are Suni around Punda Maria - the S99 (Mahonieloop) is probably your best bet; they were seen before the rains poured down & the grass started growing like crazy.

You stand a good chance of seeing Sharpe's grysbokke around Punda as well.

Just a note: there's an incredible load of grass over here - even buffaloes dissappeared with only their backs visible in the high summer! It's only from March that we could see Sharpe's grysbok/Grey duiker & all the small stuff running around the area again as the grass started to thin out. I guess the dry season would be better in terms of game viewing.

Several times, passing Babalala in the dry season, I saw Roan antelope: either a lone bull or the big herd of 35. You can always take the Northern Plains Adventure Trail (self drive, 4x4 route) - you might just find them.
Near Babalala

Tsessebes from Babalala to Mashikhiri, on the H1-7/H1-8 but I haven't seen them as often as in the dry season. This was at Klopperfontein dam - there are some of the Joekin rare antelope in the pic as well.

There was one Lichtenstein's hartebeest with a large Tsessebe herd (approximately 25 Tsessebes)...tourists reported a loner near Pafuri yesterday.

Saw Sable antelope near Pretoriuskop a few years ago. A herd was reported at the waterhole in front of the Punda camping site in the beginning of September 2008, but they haven't been seen since.

Eland can be found from Pafuri down southwards.
Saw one on the Nyaladrive & then got very lucky at Madadzidzi on the H1-8 in Jan. & found a large herd. Maybe we would see more if the Mopanis weren't so many!?
