Next time you visit, go to Manzimhlope!, but I've seen some forumites suggests that one goes out early in the morning, return to camp in the heat of the day & then go out again later. I say no. In the middle of the day one should be sitting at a dam or waterhole. If you're at Manzimhlope between 11 & 1 you should be seeing them. Could be quite boring though, but have patience!

I just want to say .. I've been to all the place which they said I should go and I've come to the following conclusion.

At all the place I've found Waterbuck. Hence my theory was correct. People are confusing the Waterbuck with the Sable. There are no Sable in the Park.

When an antelope has a white ring on his bum then it is a waterbuck and not a sable. Please stop torturing me with these false images of Sable in the Park.

Sorry about that W@H :(

Oh, by the way the above pics were taken between Manzimhlope wh and Jones dam. Could there be some truth in your theory :hmz:

We've been lucky with Sable sights a few times on the Voortrekker Road H2-2, near Sithungwane mountain. We saw herds of 10-15 sables on 2 or 3 occasions. Near that place, a bit closer to P'kop, is also an excellent site to see Reedbuck.
Have got pictures of both of them, but only on slides, so need some time to find an scan them.

Amazing  I have never seen a Dutch Water Sable, especially in Africa.

Just the herd of 10 Common African Sables, last year at the dam near Bateleur which DuQues kindly posted for me.

They are pretty common near P'kop.. Thats where I saw the only sable I've ever seen, it was stunning and massive, but he soon vanished in that unbelievably long grass...

Nice horns...

About 5 years ago we spotted sable on the Salitjie road and a few days later another herd on the Gudzane road about 4kms north of Gudzane dam. Truly a magnificent antelope!

Over the Christmas period we were very fortunate to see 2 Sable Antelope near Lower Sabie. We were wondering how many Sable are in the park. Our last sighting was about 16 years ago but a lot further North.
