That's a real Big Tusker.
Thanks for sharing 100ponder

And idd it's quiet with the tusker postings.
It is a result of Aat's tusker documents so people feel they don't have to post the pictures anymore for ID ? :hmz: :hmz: :hmz:

Magnificent pic 100P, would love to visit Tsavo one day!
Here is a bit of a challenge, saw this bull just outside Letaba 2009, he stayed on the other side of the river so pics are not the best, any takers?
Ps: thanks for the great new documents Aat!

Hi Gavin,

The tusker you saw at Letaba in 2009 was most likely Tsotsi - compare the skin folds on there trunks just below the lip line.

The small notch halfway up the right ear reminds of Mculu but I think the tusker you had photographed has longer tusks than Mculu.

Aat, what do you think ?

Gerrie.

PS :- I like to post BIG tuskers from non-SANPARKS areas as I am sure all us tuskermites will always appreciate any GOOD tusker.

Gavin,
For me no doubt about this one. It's TSOTSI and glad to see some great pics of him. Once more I am worried about him since I haven't seen any recent pictures of him for some years now. And ... it's not a tusker you don't photograph if you see him with these tusks.
Letaba area and around Letaba camp was his "home" so what happened.... disappeared to Mozambique or victim of a fight ...?
Gavin, please send me these pics so I can add some pictures to his pages to enrich the overview of this big tusker.

Thanks

Hi Tuskermites !

Big Tuskers still remains quiet - maybe some of the tusker fanatics are visiting KNP this long weekend and we see some interesting sightings being posted during next week.

Some months ago Aat added Mavumbye with his floppy ear to the TUSKERSOFAFRICA website and now Tembe has its own "Floppy ear" with slightly larger tusks and all :-

We met this bull on 16.02.13 around 12,30 o'clock on the H1-3 shortly before the turn off to Nkaya pan -
I am more than sure that this is Shibotwana, however, his right tusk is no longer existing :? This was already the fourth time we had the honour in meeting him. More you can read in my relevant trip eport.

Hi Tuskermites,

Time for a short update about the tusker site over the last few months:

- New tusker added today (august 10th) named KOMAPITI (living in the south (Pretoriuskop - Afsaal area) Promising tusker

- Previous new tuskers: Shikomu, Nwanetsi, MaTimba, Dungile and Mavumbye

- Updated Xipembane, Malopenyana and Boyala (received pictures of Boyala made in 2009 before he broke his right tusk), Zambhala, Mahlahini, Mandzemba & Tinyarhini

- Updated the tusker documents recently for South, Central and North sections

Thanks all for your support and posts and entries
