This mongoose was not seen in a SANPARKS park but I would like to ID it positively! I know it as a "Rooi meerkat" but the english name? I must mention that a small tip of it's tail was white.
Thanks

Googled and now I think it to be Yellow Mongoose - varies from light to reddish brown with white tip tail!

Not the best photos but amazing how one can be intimidated by a 5cm bat in the garden (during daylight!)  When it became too hot it hid under the dog kennel on one of the bricks.

Sorry Batmad but these little critters are not my favourite.

Cape Serotine ;)

And he is absoloutly adorable!

Next time if that happens, please put some kitchen gloves on and place him in a tree, as the ants tend to attack bats when they are grounded...

Many thanks Batmad

Firstly sorry for the posting in the wrong section and secondly perhaps I need a bat box. There are so many around our area and I have even had them skim the swimming pool for a drink!

At least this little fellow survived. I was very worried about him at first.

Image Hi guys, I think these are leopard but I'm not sure because it seems to have been running, and I think they're fresh because they go over the tire tracks.

Mattib, this is so not my comfort zone, so if anyone disagrees, I am happy to be shot down.

No not Leopard.
Leopard has a V rather than a W at the top of the pad.

I have gone though my Book(s).. and Cheetah seems the closest match.

I know that with Cheetah one tends to look for claws. Maybe at the right of the right.

I would love people's opinion. This sparked off a debate a few years back. Is this a Lichtensteins, or Tsessebe?

It was taken on the Voortrekker road, close to Pretorius Kop.

My camera was brand new and my hands were shaking so much that I really did not get a good look.
