GP thanks for the new pic...definitely a Normal Reedbuck. Mother and son. There used to be a huge Ram located at the picnic spot but now it seems a very territorial Bushbuck ram has taken over that spot. The Shawu drainage area to the East of Mopani Camp is probably the best place in Kruger to see Reedbuck and Pretorius Kop is a great area for them as well with its long grassy patches

Guinea Pig, look at the horns. You'll see that, seen from the side, the red/Lichtenstein hartebeest has "7"-shaped horns, while that of the Tsessebe is "flat".

Nice sightings, both of them.

The Hartebeest in your pic is a female...thin horns

Lichtensteins Hartebeest are best seen around Klopperfontein Dam and on the Northern Plains 4x4 trail on the Vlakteplaas rangers section near the Antelope camp

The reedbuck photos got me thinking of a photo I took last spring on the H1-4 just north of Satara.
Are these Southern reedbucks?

*Edit*

I'm not removing the post because I was told to, I'm removing it because I'm reasonably sure it's been seen and passed on. Thanks again for the help by everybody else.

I'm not professing to be any kind of expert on antilope and will never be. No, I didn't know the difference between the two Hartebeest. Yes, I previously though Springbok occured in KNP. Yes, I thought Sable and Roan can be found in the same spot.

I'm not apologizing for my lack of knowledge. At least I admit it and ask instead of acting like Miss. Know-it-all and making an ass of myself by bragging about how clever I am.

Thanks for those that help out and if you tease me about it? No trouble. Make nasty comments about it and you made an enemy for life.

On with the topic. 8)

Hi friends,
At first, I thought this was just an impala, while we were at KNP. It was seen in the road to Transport Dam, at Jan 5th 2011.
Now, back home, I realized that it is indeed bigger.
I think it is a Reedbuck. Do you agree?

Good for you! On my email I've got the following quote in my signature line:

I do not think I need to say more.
